Mark Kelly not just an astronaut. He was the commander of the ISS. A fighter pilot that flew 39 missions during desert storm and a test pilot. Plus he’s very much science forward

Mark Kelly also happens to be married to Gabby Giffords, who survived being shot in an assassination attempt. I can't help wondering how that would play when facing someone who has done the same. Would it balance the sympathy? Would it be seen as cynical? Would it matter not at all? I really don't know.

Beshear has the most compelling case. “I can get Republicans to vote for me, I can govern progressively, and I can get them to vote for me again anyways” is pretty hard to argue with. Tim Walz also deserves a fair shout given that he’s been pretty successfully campaigning for VP on a “Republicans are weirdos” platform that would probably play really well in a debate against JD Vance, maybe the weirdest, most off-putting Republican ever put on the ticket.
