The grandiose and varied landscapes of the 30th country to host the Dakar have all the ingredients for a well-rounded route. The same diversity characterises the three cities that will mark the decisive phases of the rally. Jeddah symbolises the country’s deep historical roots, while the capital Riyadh evokes the power of a kingdom resolutely turned towards the future, as exemplified by the Qiddiya project.

Dakar in the Arabian terrain is the best thing that could happen to this sport. Fantastic and seems everyone was geninuenly happy to be there.

As a US soldier before and during the Persian Gulf war I spent months at a time in the Arabian desert, saw every manner of vehicle sink in that ever shifting sand being truly grateful I was using boots to traverse those dunes when I’d see a crew digging a humvee out of the sand.
The only relief that these competitors will have is that this race takes place in January and not August.
I’m looking forward to this year’s event.

Let's hope that this doesn't kill the dakar dreams of all those female competitors and young girls, the dakar is a world event which should be free of discrimination. No age, race, religion or sex should be deciding factor, everybody should be seen as a competitor with desire to compete in the greatest race/ adventure on earth.
