My friends and I had the pleasure of visiting this amazing place on opening day! Cassandra is an amazing person and leader. I was so impressed to see the amount of thought that went into every part of her creation. Not to mention the talent of her crew. Definitely an inspiration; both the Volcano Dome and Cassandra with her friends. A must see if you visit the Big Island. Thank you for adding even more magic to this beautiful aina, Cassandra. ❤

Screens on those types of windows have to be dome shaped. Kind of like a mesh straining bowl. Also, those glass peaks might look better if they were stained red.

Oh my gosh, I would love to stay there, I LOVE do-ers
She and her friend did this, and it wasn’t easy, but the pay off is exceptional!
I have an idea for the screens. Maybe using the concept of an embroidery hoop, make a large ring, slightly larger than the port hole, and put netting, I like sheer curtains for this, it allows airflow but not even little noseeums can get through. Then I’d put little dot size magnets around the hoop, glue some metal pieces onto the wall and paint them the same color. Now the hoop can magnetize to the window.
She could also just put a hook up and hang the screen on that but the wind might blow it.
I hope this makes sense, I did something similar for my van so when I car camp I use rain gutter screens that keep the leaves out, roll down the window, and place the screen that’s been cut to fit and roll the window up enough to lock in place, for my front windows I used the sheer curtain, (but I also made some for a nomad friend out of the screen curtain that was popular the last few years that acts as a screen door with the magnets that connect down the middle) anyway, just put the sheets over the window on the outside and magnets hold it in place, really works!
If I can ever get to Hawaii as a vacation I am booking the Volcano on a volcano for my trip, I want to experience the real Hawaii, I can stay at a Hilton anywhere!

Not a criticism in specific but a criticism in general. Building directly on the ground in a tropical environment ranks up there with window screens on a submarine. I live in a tropical country, and everyone desires now to use concrete blocks on the ground. Zero airflow, lots of mold, like living in a jail, and poor air quality. My house is 4 meters in the air. Plenty of air flow, quiet and less insects. Unfortunately, I am in the minority. As people walk by, they marvel just how livable my place is vs. them. The old traditional homes were the best. Look at how they built the sugar plantation houses in Hawaii. No air con is necessary either. They had a bunch of homes built cheaply by builders from California. See Orchid estates. In Hilo. California is a desert....same techniques. Enjoy your molds

What a great place! So fun and so cool! Could you cut circles out of screen to fit the windows and tack them in?

I love themed rooms, AirBnBs, hotels, destination resorts, and the like. You have all the best of them in this. Great project, and if I ever get to Hawaii, I'd love to stay there!
