2:20 No it is not an iceberg. That is a glacier. We have a large portion of the worlds glaciers here in Alaska.

Millie, you're glowing. James, you're a hoot.

i really like how this channel shows the location of the "destination" as well, instead of expecting foreigners to know where it is

Sandstone actually gets it's color from iron oxidization! More color more iron oxidizes, white sandstone has very little. With that being said, the minerals within the stone helps determine it's qualities as it erodes over many years!

The boats at Niagara Falls are called Maid of the Mist and they travel VERY close to the falls which is pretty scary. The roar of the falls is deafening and everyone is given slickers because you will get wet! I don't know about now but when I was a child my parents(early 60's) had a post card of Niagara Falls totally frozen, stopped and rain bow colored lights shining on the the reflective ice...a pretty amazing sight!

These incredible shaped mountains and arches are formed by wind and water, and by the earth’s movement splitting mountains and creating new ones with amazing shapes. These changing formations have happened over millions of years! How incredible!

Most of the formations Millie was asking about were formed by erosion. Slightly acidic water, will dissolve limestone and marble. Wind and sand will carve into other rock formations. Most of North America was covered by glaciers during the ice age which further carved into rock. Cracks in limestone and sandstone allowed lava flows which remained after the limestone and sandstone were eroded over thousands of years.

The great thing is that you guys are young enough to have at least 50 years ahead of you to see a good number of these sights. I hope you do.

14:39 A slot canyon is one of the most dangerous places to be in a flash flood. The water can (and has) come through as powerfully as a fire hose. Many a hiker has been washed away and drowned.

When you look at the natural diversity, I encourage you to think back to the early 1800s. A small group of volunteers stepped off in St Louis to explore the unknown. No idea what they would find. Look up Lewis & Clark and the Corps of Discovery.. 😮😊😊😊

In our Navajo Mythology we call the high red cliffs that spire up into the sky “Giants Graveyard”

about the golden gate bridge...as soon as you cross over into San Francisco you might as well turn right back around....that place has gone sour.

I grew up about an hour drive from Niagara Falls. Been there many times. It's definitely something everyone should see at least once. The sound of all that water rushing is amazing.

You were asking about the "green" in South Dakota in the Badlands. During the late spring and early summer, it looks just like that. Just keep in mind that in South Dakota, Spring comes late and Winter comes early. If you like that, and you liked Delicate Arch (found in Arches National Park near Moab, Utah - The trail to Delicate Arch is 3 miles (~5 km) long and has a 480 foot (146 m) elevation gain), just before that, there's nothing at all like Southwestern Utah in snow. The big red desert and bright red rock formations covered in bits of white snow is an amazing sight to behold.

The Blue Ridge Parkway is incredible. I live in North Carolina. Just beautiful.

good observation: the water bill for people in upstate New York is extremely affordable compared to other parts of the country because of Lake Ontario.

the shots of Big Sur do it justice: it's breathtaking and never gets old.

Florida Keys are flippin' amazing for sure. i need to return!

any and all of the national parks west of and around the Rockies and Sierras are incredible

I’ve been to the Badlands many times. Perfect to wrap into a trip involving Mt. Rushmore/Crazy Horse/Devil’s Tower. Coastal psychopaths call the Midwest “fly over country, ” but the Midwest is one of the most slept on destinations for beautiful scenery.

And yes you must do the entire PCH (Pacific Coast Highway - Highway 1) in California. Start in San Diego and drive all the way to Oregon & Washington. You’ll naturally go through amazing parks including the Redwoods!

You can spend more than of a month in southern Utah and Northern Arizona and not see everything. Page Arizona is considered the middle of the Grand Circle, where you have Antelope Canyon as mentioned, Lake Powell (187 miles long when full and more shoreline than the whole west coast of the US), Glen Canyon Dam, Horseshoe Bend and many other local gems. Day trips from Page can take you to the north or south rims of the Grand Canyon, Zion Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Lee's Ferry/Marble Canyon, Monument Valley and Valley of the Gods to name a few.

Millie, the Arches National Park used to have much more mountains. But, over the years, strong winds have blown the soft sandstone away, leaving what we see now.

Bryce is perhaps the most beautiful of the NP's in the lower 48. The colors come from different layers of sediment that were laid down when what later became Bryce Canyon was part of the sea floor.
