ASMR The London Underground (soft spoken, history, educational)

Preparing this topic was a lot! There is so much history and complexity, you could probably fill an entire channel with nothing but explorations of the London underground, so we're really just scratching the surface here. I hope you enjoy my ramblings and this fascinating glance into history. I'm also very excited to continue our exploration of London next week, with a map of the City during the Tudor era.

The diagrammatic map is by Douglas Rose, 9th edition. The book is the Depot Discovery by the London Transport Museum.

Thanks for this wonderful and straightforward overview of a system with such a lengthy and complex history. Perhaps one day you can do a video of the history of diagrammatic transit maps, of which Harry Beck's famous London Underground map was one of the first.

I knew it! You handled the story of the London Underground brilliantly 🤩 It is a huge subject and I learned a lot of things I didn’t know and it made me want to visit the Transport Museum - I used to work around the corner from it and can you believe I never went! I’m so glad you had a good trip to London. Yes you are right Fenchurch Street isn’t an underground station and the Waterloo and City Line only runs between Waterloo and Bank - nowhere else. When I used to travel on it it was nicknamed “The Drain” - that’s what it felt like 😊. Fantastic video 🤩 Looking forward to next week.
