Lyrics to 'Finding the Slope'

Pre-verse:
You know the slope is a measure of how steep a line is
Rise over run but why do we need to find it?
2 variables and all of the graphing nonsense
Finding slope is really only half the process
Rate of change is really what you're going after
Before I teach you that, I must first teach the process
Because the slope is the reason why we do it
Ok, now, people, let's get into it

Hook:
If you're looking for slope
S.L.O.P.E
Grab a book and follow me
We goin find the slope
Anyway we can
S.L.O.P.E rate of change
We gon find the slope

Verse 1:
We gon find the slope any way that we can
It is Rise over Run or the steepness
Of a line and that line we can always find on a graph
That Cartesian Plane
x and y axis
If you see a linear equation up on that graph
Find a point and then go up along the y-axis
That's the rise
then go along the x-axis
Hit a point; That's the run
Now do division
slope-intercept form is an equation that reads
y = mx + b
where the m is the slope and b is the y-intercept
So y = 2x + 2
2 is the slope
So I've been told finding slope is finding the rate of change
Which is how a function switches as a result of different inputs
We're talking about speed
We're talking rate of decay
Which all involve slope
So that's the point, Hey!!

Verse 2:
Talking about points
There's a formula in which you
can find the slope if you have two points
It's the point-slope formula
y2 minus y1 over x2 minus x1
So, let's say we have two points
(0,7), (3,11)
(0,7) is the first
(3,11) is the second
Check it
0 is the first x so we call it x1
3 is the next x so we call it x2
7 is y1, 11 is y2
11 minus 7 is the first thing y'all do
That's y2 minus y1
the answer is 4
divided by 3 minus 0;
which is 3
so 4 over 3 is the slope
so the run is 3 and the rise is 4
so the point-slope formula, rise over run and slope-intercept form
is what you use to find slope, dawg
