Absolutely! An EV with a gas generator was the only kind of EV I would consider. I’m a locomotive engineer and that’s exactly what my locomotives are (except we use diesel generators).

In 1970, when I was 14 years old, I learned to drive in my Uncle John's '69 Scout. He sat in the passenger seat and shifted manual gears for me while I worked the peddles and steered it along the back roads around Paw Paw, Michigan. Flash forward 55 years and I have owned several different 4x4 vehicles since then (and various sports cars), all of the off-roaders being "SUVs" set up for both extended highway travel and serious off roading to/at my deer camp in northern Michigan. I can't wait to see these things on the road and trails, and drive one myself! Yes, I already have a deposit on a Scout Traveler with the Range Extender!

The minimal range on gas is the EPA dictating emissions. I guarantee some aftermarket will come up with an extended range gas tank
