The trailer for Zack Snyder's Justice League has finally arrived and it contains a glimpse at an even bigger 'Knightmare' future scenario than the one featured in Batman V Superman. Back when the DCEU was still establishing itself, Zack Snyder's Batman V Superman set the stage for big things to come. Aside from the historic battle between Batman and 'Supes', the film set numerous storylines in motion that were designed to be developed in Snyder's then-forthcoming Justice League two-parter. One of the biggest and most intriguing story elements was Bruce Wayne's 'Knightmare' vision, in which he seemingly dreams of a dystopian future in which Darkseid and the forces of Apokolips had conquered Earth and Superman had morphed into an evil version of his former self.

At the time, the sequence raised more questions than it answered, and due to Warner meddling with Snyder's Justice League, things stayed that way. The movie was infamously altered by the studio after Snyder left the project, removing the Darkseid character completely, along with much of what the 'Knightmare' sequence had teased in BVS. Luckily, Snyder has confirmed the Knightmare vision will make a lot more sense after his version of Justice League hits HBO Max next year.

In Snyder's plan for this vision of the Justice League's future, does the gun-toting Batman of the original sequence suffer a different fate to the one meted out by evil Superman in the original 'Knightmare'? Or is this simply a reminder that Batman is most certainly dead in this vision. Or does this easter egg actually hint at a possible Joker cameo in the 'Knightmare' of the Snyder Cut of Justice League? It's all unclear at this time, but the card seems to make clear Batman has certainly been defeated in much the same way the trident and shield suggest his Justice League comrades have. Either way, the 'Knightmare' of the Snyder Cut certainly looks to be an altogether more depressing scenario than the Batman V Superman version.

After global passionate fan calls to action and the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut movement, HBO Max and Warner Bros. Pictures announced today that it will exclusively world premiere Zack Snyder's director's cut of the Warner Bros. Pictures and #DC film #JusticeLeague in 2021. Snyder surprised fans with the news this morning during a live online commentary of his film Man of Steel with Henry Cavill. Film features an ensemble cast that includes Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, and J. K. Simmons. Like the theatrical release, Zack Snyder's Justice League follows the Justice League: Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg (maybe Martian Manhunter with Green Lantern) as they attempt to save the world from the catastrophic threat of Steppenwolf and his army of Parademons, Joker, Deathstroke and Darkseid.
