Why is this LEGO Star Wars minifigure SO expensive?

Why is the LEGO Star Wars Finch Dallow minifigure so rare and expensive? The figure originally appeared in the 75188 Resistance Bomber set from 2017, but not the original version...

When this was figure was first revealed and put in the new bombers, I emailed Lego about it and said I had the old set. They sent me the head and helmet directly. I was so surprised when I found out the prices he goes for now, and am so glad I managed to grab him.

Yeah, I got my finch dallow through the replacement parts system. I’m glad I did, cause I remember it being a 90 dollar minifig at the time. Now it’s (as you said) 650

He "was" a Resistance pilot not because he died, but because the Star Wars wiki is all written in past tense because the movies take place "a long, long time ago".

Just a note, I think Wookieepedia has all their character articles in past tense, even those who are still ‘alive’ e.g Rey, Chewie, Lando.

But yes, Finch Dallow was clearly killed in that scene.

I heard about it, it’s because he was added to the production shortly after the set released.

I got the original bomber so when this figure was announced, i got one from LEGO customer service. Then, I purchased two copies of the sets in the summer of 2019 for $90 each at a local store. I sold one for an insane amount of money and kept the other one. I thus have two copies of the figure, one on display the other sealed with the set (which goest for $800-$1000 on eBay).

I was lucky and as soon as I heard about the release of the alternate version of the set I went to the Lego site and was able to but each of the pieces making up the minifigure so it only cost my about $10. I just looked brinklink an yeesh that's crazy

I remember I almost got this set, but I don't remember if it was during the remade figure or not. Not that I would sell it if I had it anyway

I have the original set when it first came out and when I went to Target or Kmart I could never find the new set with the updated pilot. I think the new one was only available in the north America as I never found in Australia.

It was mere chance that I got this guy from lego piece support. I had gotten the original kit and had heard from a friend they were giving out more crew. As the official set was missing up to 3 crew, I picked it up (and the skid speeder microfighter) just to fill out the defensive armament. Who knew he would be so valuable?

I put in an order for this figure the DAY the rerelease went out. My request got denied though.... I am still mad to this day... luckily I got a second of the torso and legs though so that is nice I guess

I bought this set in early 2018 and after watching this video I ran back to my LEGO room to see if I had the Finch figure and of course I don't. I wish I would have known about this back then.

I can't believe I sold this figure for $80 2 years ago...I'm really regretting that now. 😭It was a lot of money at the time for a figure I didn't think was very special, but now seeing the price, I never could have imagined a minifigure could be worth this much.😦
