The Controversial History Of The Boy Scouts Of America And How The BSA Went Bankrupt

If you are from the USA, you’ve either seen, heard of, or been a part of the Boy Scouts Of America, and much like the country in their name, their history is full of amazing achievements, prejudice, and outright tragedy. Are The Boy Scouts of America good or bad? Here are the facts: The Achievements, the BSA taught millions of young men self-reliance, community service, and outdoor skills. Through merit badges and leadership opportunities, millions of young men learned important life lessons, The Prejudice: The BSA banned gay scouts and leaders until 2014, and although the practice has ceased, it still has still stained the scout's reputation. And then the tragedy. Thousands of former scouts came forward in the late 2010s with sexual abuse allegations which led to the bankruptcy of the Boy Scouts. They did a lot of good, but they also did a lot of bad, So you tell me, are the boy scouts good or bad?

Sports in public schools is way worse for kids than scouting. The amount of incidents that happen now are 10 times more than BSA’s worst year. The only difference is there is no national organization to file a class-action lawsuit against for public school sports.

As a member of the BSA some of this information is somewhat accurate but I actually think if I'm remembering correctly they officially allowed girls into the BSA around 2017 or 2018 I know my old Cub Scout pack was allowing girls in when I was a Webelos

There are evil people even in some churches who will harm kids. There are careless drivers who will harm kids. There is nothing as big as scouting without some flaws. Husband and brothers learned and shared so much that helped make them great adults! I ❤ scouting!

As a scout my self working on content on an alternate acount. The worse thing I have experienced is someone being sexually harassed in my troop near a scout master, I was not present when this happened but it’s still bad, for me specifically the worst thing I’ve been given is hard because I have some mild things and not so mild things happen to me

Scouts has made an enormous impact for good on my life taught me self reliance and that I could do hard things that for a young man is absolutely invaluable 💪💪💪


Been thinking about starting some new program without prejudices that the bsa had it is a terrible that it ended young people need to learn these lessons still!

BSA Is good since alot of it has to do with morals and some peaples morals including mine are to not be gay now I'm not tryna make fun of gay peaple or treat them differently that's just the morals I live by and I think that's what's happening here

For all of yoi saying its good, i know you would not send your kid here. Secondly, you need to look up the facts. It wasnt just "sexual assault". Many boyss were being trafficked globally. No amount of "masculine service" will forgive that.

I haven't been taught anything. I was forced into it and can't stand it it's stupid. They take time out of what you can do in your life and replace it with bs. I'm about to go to Philmont on Friday. I'm only excited for hiking I don't know why I'm carrying a 30 pound back but yeah.

They’re good. Majority is friendly and through the several years I have been in the organization I have not seen any of these incidents
