SHOW DESCRIPTION: In this podcast I talk about keeping our brains and bodies healthy when it’s extremely hot outside. Although there still needs to be more research on how extreme temperatures affect the brain, they definitely have a negative impact with prolonged periods of heat exposure. Why? Temperature is one the main driver of chemical reactions, so changes in temperature affect the biochemistry of the brain and body.

I knew this heat intolerance was not just my imagination! Thank you for addressing this. It sets my moods on fire!

Thank you for this, it's good to know. "Cool head, warm heart" is my motto. No AC here so we just ride the heat wave and when it gets too much, cold showers or the garden hose help, with drives to the coast when it gets unbearable. Learning how to acclimate is key, and the brain freeze while reading it a great summer activity idea! "Cool kids read" could be the motto. Enjoy your videos, very informative.

I went from a cooler climate (uk) to a crazy hot climate ( caribbean) and after day 5 sleeping in 30° no AC just fan ive had a three day migraine. Ive been putting two rags alternately into the freezer and then putting it on my forehead, over my eyes, and on my scalp and back of neck to cool my body down and it has worked. My body is melting and relaxing🙌🏽 thanks Dr Leaf 🙏🏽 take care everyone❤

I love myself a sunny, warm day, but I prefer a rainy day over a hot day. Thanks for the advice

Can anyone tell me which book to would be best for my 18 year old daughter? I would love to read a book with her before she leaves for college in about a month. She and I both need to learn more about cleaning up our mental mess. I would read that book on my own, but is that a good one to read for my daughter? Thanks for your suggestions!
