The color aspect reminded me the old Trendmaster's Godzilla KotM figures, Godzilla absorbs the radiation of a submarine and becomes SuperCharged Godzilla which his color turns from green to black and his spine from silver( or green depending how they paint the figure) to blue for the radiation look.
