How many people walked away from home never to return, yet people still left too.

As I have heard somewhere “In humanity, there is a bit of madness there. How many people were sent into the ocean never to return to discover new land only for us to send more?”

People give their lives willingly for a cause they believe in. Thanks to all those people.

The ability of the human species to triumph over adversity has been one of the principal driving forces behind our evolution.

I was 21 y/o when that happened and could see the explosion in the sky from my home in Florida. It was so sad😢. I’ll never forget that day.

Those pioneers are the giants we stand on & reach beyond.
It's the same with everything we as humans do.
If we give up at the first sign of trouble, we'd never get anywhere.
World exploration, vehicle safety, chemical analysis, food additives, medical improvements, travelling to space, etc., there are those before us that paved the way so we can benefit.
Just as some people do today so others in the future benefit.

I remember this day, a foggy day schedule when the school buses didn't run on time. The TV already on and watching the launch when the Challenger exploded, then eventually riding into school in shock.

People die. It's a fact of life. Reaction is to make things safer. Not to stop doing things. Not doing stuff will also kill you.

Indeed, it's important to continue our space program. Every astronaut knows the risks that comes with their line of work, and gladly accept those risks. That's something that takes great courage.

Still remembering my grade 4 teacher coming back into the classroom to tell us what happened cause the only tv in the school was in the staff room so most teachers went to go watch and then report to us. Still can see her coming back in and trying to find the words.

Everest isn't quite the same. The reason it was "more popular" in the first few subsequent years was mostly because of the delay in permits because of the accident, but also because the guides, Sherpa, and technology had rendered it about as safe as it can be without fixed infrastructure. Now, the nations controlling it, mainly Nepal, are issuing too many permits.

What got me out of the cave was the bear sleeping in the back.
