What is Kemi Badenoch's immigration policy as Tory leader?

Kemi Badenoch has announced her first policy as Tory leader focused on immigration.

The Conservative Party leader has said immigrants should face tougher hurdles to achieve British citizenship, ahead of MPs debating the government’s Border Security, Asylum and Immigration Bill next week.

She thinks that new arrivals to the UK should have to wait at least 15 years before becoming eligible, and she wants the government to include these measures in the proposed new law.

As a legal immigrant, I find it frustrating that people are misled into believing we rely on benefits when, in reality, our visa conditions include No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF). We work hard, contribute more to the economy than we take, and do not expect public support. Unfortunately, politicians who have failed to manage immigration properly mislead citizens with false narratives. Immigration is beneficial when managed well, but uncontrolled immigration is a problem.

We are young, healthy, and not a burden on healthcare—yet we still pay over £1, 000 per year for it.

I don’t understand why immigrants are eligible for benefits before becoming citizens. I know that many people from Hong Kong who arrived with a BNO visa receive no support at all. Could you explain how and why immigrants can access these benefits? Is this a loophole created by the Tory government over the past 14 years? She has no need to tell us until closer to the next election. She's giving it a great deal of thought and will bring this and her other policies forward when the time is right. The contributions of immigrants towards making Britain the success story she is today is undeniable. Limiting migration, or making British citizenship unattainable to migrants, can only hurt/limit British productivity, growth, and society in an increasingly competitive world.
