Thank you Dr Barkley. Firstly congratulations on your retirement and secondly thank you creating this YouTube channel where we can find and share information and useful strategies. This is especially helpful in the world of information overload.

Dr Barkley💙 I joked to my friends that I’ve savoured so many of your videos, pored over so many of your books, devoured so many of your interviews that you feel like a cherished family member and I would gallop up and hug you if I saw you on the street (my friends looked nervous at that point; please don’t worry, I wouldn’t actually hug you… but I would want to😂) Your knowledge, empathy, and communication skills mean a great deal to those of us struggling to better understand ourselves and/or our loved ones with ADHD. Your kind but no-nonsense truth-telling feels infinitely more respectful than fatuous assurances of “super powers.” And yes, your mellifluous voice does indeed (as a commenter pointed out years ago and I’ve never since been able to get it out of my head) sound just like Jeff Goldblum. You, sir, are the fairy godmother, G.O.A.T and Grand Poohbah of ADHD all rolled into one. Thank you for caring enough about sound science and about all of us to have made this (and us) your life’s work. 🩵

Sir, I am 32 years old from India. I have been formally diagnosed with ADHD and MDD this year, and now I see that I have always had the disorder right from childhood.

I am finding many answers to all the complaints my father, teachers, partners, and friends had against me all through these years. Even my current partner had complaints about my forgetfulness, lack of attention, and many other things. Your work is allowing me to rediscover myself, gain access to my strengths and take charge of my ADHD.

I am thankful to you and the work you have shared. I appreciate your willingness to use the technology and give access to your research work to people like me.

Thank you. I will forever be grateful to you.

Dr Barkley, I am so happy to see you here on YouTube! We desperately need your voice and your presence to remain in the world. I am an adult with ADHD and recently qualified (last year) ADHD coach in Australia. When I was diagnosed three years ago at the age of 51, your books, videos, and podcast interviews on ADHD and executive functions were a lifeline to me as, despite the enormous relief I felt at finally having a diagnosis that made sense, I wrestled with the implications. Your work has helped, and continues to help me understand myself, and helped those closest to me better understand me. I draw on your work when I coach clients, and recommend your videos and podcast interviews to them. Your deep knowledge, wisdom, compassion, and commitment are a gift to all of us - and one for which I am deeply grateful.

I'm just now (Aug. 4, 2024) discovering this channel and you, Dr. Barkley.

I'm in my 60s, was born with ADHD but didn't know that's what I had until I was in my 30s (when my son's teachers were trying to get me to medicate him).

I really didn't know anything about it until then. Of course - as has happened to many of us - I found the information was descriptive of myself, and was astounded to put some type of definition to what was my experience since I was a little girl. [possibly also on the spectrum]

I've been on and off ADHD medication for myself ever since (mostly off, but presently on). And although having a name for it all somewhat helped at first, I've really been "stuck" for the last several years, probably because being an empty-nester, I lack almost all motivation now.

I'm looking forward to watching your videos now, in the hopes of improving.

Thanks in advance for this channel.🙏

So glad you have started your own channel. I’m a female in my early 40s and was diagnosed a little over a year ago. It’s been rough, but it feels good to understand my past behaviors and realize that I wasn’t just being lazy. Now I’m on medication and getting treatment & slowly organizing my life to how I always wanted it to be. It’s a lot of knowledge gathering :)

Dear Dr Barkey, I am from Nepal and working as a pediatrician with special interest in ASD and ADHD. I recently found your podcast and YouTube videos. They are clear, precise and very informative and helpful even for treating my children here. Thank you so much. And in one of the podcast you shared why you accept all the interviewers. That is inspiring and shows your dedication and compassion. I am reading your books too. Thank you once again

Dr. Barkley, I blindly wrestled with ADHD my whole life, only to be diagnosed in my 50’s. Your voice has been so helpful as I navigate my way through finding an ADHD practitioner — and deciding whether to try medication at age 60. (I also live in Richmond.) Thank you for your dedication to this field of study. It has made a meaningful difference in the lives of so many.

I was diagnosed at age 53 entirely thanks to your lectures which mapped out my life with such accuracy that I wondered if you were the first actual psychic to have ever existed. Greatly looking forward to all of your forthcoming videos and so excited that you're active here on YouTube. Thank-you.

Thank you so much for everything you do. I was diagnosed with ADHD a year and a half ago at 32 years old. I'm currently untreated because wait lists are long but I've picked up 'Taking Charge of Adult ADHD'. I'm really trying to get my life on track after a lifetime of goals never met, and letting a lot of people (myself included) down. I'll definitely be using this channel as a resource to help work with my ADHD, hopefully helping me to be able to start studying and get a nursing degree. I hope you know how much hope you've given the ADHD community.

Dr. Barkley, as someone who wasn’t diagnosed with ADHD until I was an adult I am so thankful that you have created this channel. You are my number 1 resource for learning all I can about ADHD and it has helped me immensely. I am currently listening to the audiobook of Taking Charge of Adult AHDH and it is truly enlightening to finally be able to understand why I do the things I do. Thank you truly for all your hard work ❤

Hi Russel, I'm a uni student who was diagnosed last year and I'm in the process of learning a tremendous amount about the disorder so I can actually understand the ways that it affects my life. As someone who is twice exceptional it has been especially hard to accept my condition as it is so easy to believe that I don't deserve treatment as I perform well in my studies but the reality is that it makes my life much more difficult. Thank you for your work in the field and ESPECIALLY your dedication to communicate that work to the public. So much research is not communicated well leaving less than reliable sources simplifying the information down to downright non-factual levels for the public. Thank you for putting the time into the teaching as well as the research.

As for me I still have a bunch of learning to do,
Aaron.

My son has recently been diagnosed with ADHD as a person who does not have ADHD I went looking for some info to understand it better and came across a video of you "Essential Ideas for Parents". I cannot begin to explain how much that video helped me to understand ADHD, and then I found this channel which I am so grateful for. After watching the Essential Ideas for Parents video I came to the realisation that my husband has undiagnosed ADHD and this same video was a life changing explanation for him of his whole life especially school life and why he had certain struggles as a child and now in adulthood. So I just want to say Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Out of all the pros on adhd, you are the only one who seems to actually understand the disorder. You make it all make sense all the way down to the cellular level and I am so incredibly grateful to you for taking all of this time to guide us. ❤
