Ezekiel 37:1-10 describes a vision in which the prophet Ezekiel is led by God's Spirit to a valley filled with dry bones, symbolising the desolation and hopelessness of Israel. God instructs Ezekiel to prophesy to the bones, and as he does, they come together, gaining sinews, flesh, and skin. Yet, they remain lifeless. At God's command, Ezekiel prophesies to the breath (or wind), which enters the bodies, bringing them to life. This powerful imagery demonstrates God's promise to physically and spiritually restore Israel. It underscores the message that God can rejuvenate and revitalise no matter how bleak a situation is.
