I have done this, but did it for Cardinal Parolin. It took about a year, but i did get a signed photo from him.

I sent an official letter to the CDF and they wrote back to me, and they actually resolved the issue I addressed (about faulty translations of a non-English Missal). I still have the letter they sent me kept as memorabilia.

My wife and I were married on Pope Francis' birthday last year and we considered writing him to ask for his prayers. Unfortunately that got lost in the chaos of planning, I think we might have actually got a response for something like that.

I sent one to Pope Benedict many moons ago, but he retired quite literally days later ha ha..

I hope he sees it Michael, and responds. I also think its very cool to just 'send a letter' - these days :)
