👩🏻‍🦰 A B O U T M E:
Ashley is a soil scientist who has had a passion for plants since she was a small child. In the long summers as a child, she would garden alongside her grandmother and it was then that she realized her love for greenery. With years of great studying, Ashley had begun her post-secondary education at the University of Saskatchewan.
At first, her second love, animals, was the career path she chose but while doing her undergrad she realized that her education would take her elsewhere. And with that, four years later she graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a bachelor’s degree in science and a major in Soil Science.
Some of Ashley’s interests are YouTube, in which she posts informative videos about plants and gardening. The focus of Ashley’s YouTube channel is to bring science to gardening in a way that is informative but also helpful to others learning to garden. She also talks about the importance of having your own garden and the joys of gardening indoors. Ashley continues to study plants in her free time and hopes to expand her YouTube channel as well as her reach to up-and-coming gardeners.

Pineapple plants are considered good luck.
I like to give them away as house warming gifts.
Also, hibiscus are tropical, fruit-like and easy to grown indoors.

I didn't realize citrus plants were so complicated. In 2022 I bought Meyer lemons and grew a number of plants from it's seeds. Currently I still have 2 that survived. To be honest, I don't even know what I'm doing but they still seem to be growing nicely. In Zone 3 btw.

There is a huge citrus growing community in Canada. Keeping the top 2” moist is key to avoid fruit drop. Grafted citrus are more forgiving than rooted cutting. Also, limiting pot size helps avoiding root rot.

I have a little lemon tree. It’s 2 years old and I put it out in the summer and in the house on a North facing window and thats it.

I purchased two sensors today; I look forward to trying them on my indoor citrus plants. I live in zone 6 in the US. My calamondin orange plants are fruiting, and my Meyer lemon and key lime trees have started flowering.

I'm 3 hours west of you and grow all of these plants with the same potting mix and results except my dragonfruit is 6 ft tall. Fun video to see :)

I had the same experience with ginger---it hated the full, direct, summer sun and I had to move it to a shadier location. (ended up cutting the stocks back by half)

Set up a wet bulb thermometer system, look at your tables, and you will know how saturated your atmosphere is. If the temperature is constant it is extra easy to do.

My friend who grows strawberries feeds them molasses which makes them incredibly sweet. Maybe that would help your pineapple be sweeter.

Awesome. This summer we had a fresh pineapple so, yeah. It’s looking healthy. We’ll see how it goes

I ordered one of your soil monitors to help me with my Meyer lemon over winter seasons. I’m in SD, USA.

I am interested in increasing my food forest type garden area. I live in the far north of Ontario. The zone here varies from 1b to 2b with a sandy clay soil. I supliment that soil with shredded leaves and compost. What I'm looking for are haskaps and poss. Fruit trees and some comfrey. I would appreciate any suggestions for varieties as well as where I can order them. Thanks

How do u Sprout Eucalyptus seeds? Do they all need sunlight to germinate? Or bury in soil?

This is interesting. I was told, or read somewhere, that grocery store lemons and oranges won't fruit - or at least, won't give edible fruit because they're grafted (in terms of growing from seed).

I love your videos and would like to know where in Canada you are?

As a matter of fact, citrus is best grown in a chunky mix. Very hard to underwater citrus. you will do alot more damage with overwatering.

You may want to try and grow the tropical Pashion fruit vine. I am in a part of the USA where temps can get 30 below C -/ 0 degrees F-.They are a perennial and with care they have survived. This will be my 3rd winter. They have a beautiful flower and a fruit you can eat. Check it out -- Ray Delbury Sussex County NJ USA
