Показать описание
Holocaust survivor Thomas Beck tells his incredible tale of escape from a Nazi concentration camp, and relates his wistful memories of the girl he met and fell in love with during his imprisonment — whom he suddenly finds himself face to face with seventy years after their terrible ordeal.
In Nazi-occupied Hungary in 1944, fifteen-year-old Thomas Beck managed to escape from the concentration camp in which he was interned, where he had managed to survive through wit, charisma and not a little bit of luck — as well as the solace he found with a fellow internee, fourteen-year-old Edith Greiman, with whom he had fallen in love. Seventy years later, Thomas finally breaks his silence and recounts his incredible experiences to directors Lindsay Pollock and Sam Lawlor in The One That Got Away. Overflowing with youthful vigour and joie de vivre, the octogenarian Beck retraces his wartime journey from Hungary through Slovakia and on to his present-day life in Melbourne, Australia — where an astonishing coincidence brings him face to face with his lost love from those terrible days.
