Why does a pentester or bounty hunter need a github? Devs can store their pet projects there sure, web designers can show off their previous design works there as well. But security guys don't really 'produce' or 'develop' anything they could show off in their github account

Another question that has been on my mind, since I'm a newbie at this, is if there is such thing as being a pentester while being a freelancer? As far as I've seen a 'pentester' was always a job offer from a company on a job site. Meaning that you'd be officially employed, have to follow dress-code, come to meetings, communicate with people, be present at the company workspace, like a generic office worker basically. What always attracted me about bug bounty carrier is that it's totally free of all the nonsense I mentioned above. So I'm interested, can you be a freelancer pentester, someone who doesn't work all the time for one company and works on a contract basis?

That's exactly what I would do if I was starting today.
