I left my job at Disneyland before the end of summer season. I was put on the no rehire list in 1971. I retired from my 30 year teamster job in 2004. Applied for a part time job after retirement at Disneyland Anaheim. I was told that after 30 + years I was on the no rehire list and denied a new job.

My sister last employer posted a “no rehiring code”. She added that to her lawsuit. Her attorney said it falls under retaliation.

Hi Vince, I really appreciate your dedication to helping answer employment questions as you do. You've brought undeniable value to my case just by educating me on how incorrect my previous employer handled my FMLA. I have a case of constructive dismissal, I was able to obtain a new position quickly due to a connection but noticed within 3 months the position was not suitable as no protection under the ADA would exist. Would it negatively impact my case that I removed myself from my replacement position?

I have been having recruiters reach out and say thing like, "You were fired from your current job last year." I believe my current employer is sabotaging my external job offers when they call to do a dates of employment check. I need a dates of employment checking service. Reference checking services are all over, but, background check companies want company registration documents before they will call your employer asking for dates of employment. Do you know of any services that will do this?

What about being blacklisted for promotion? I currently have an active complaint against my employer. I believe my boss refused to promote me because of a past request for reasonable accomodation/EEOC complaint (retaliation). The job position is developmental...meaning promotion to the next grade is the intent (this is documented in the position description). I can show he promoted others hired in the same position description, who were hired around the same time as me. Also, I've never been given a poor performance evaluation or had any form of disciplinary action taken against me. Additionally, I can show that for years I have been reaching out to my boss to see what I can do to get promoted...he never provided any. Finally, there is a clause in the Union Contract that stipulates he provide guidance on promotion every year. Feel like I've got a pretty solid case, but my employer has been dragging their feet for the past 10 months since I complained. I'm worried they know something I don't. Thoughts?

White* If one was able to use a background checking company, could the search be made generally for all companies, or would it have to be striclty within a particular industry, or even only for a specific prospective company? Or, would they simply contact one's past employers?

You know what I did, was e mail the company’s HR to ask about my rehire eligibility they responded that I’m not eligible for rehire and any applications that I put in will be automatically disqualified. So I went to ask them why am I blocked from being rehired. They blocked me.

A music executive, in the state of California has threatened to blacklist me in the music industry if I do not pay him $10, 000 and follow through on a word of mouth arrangement that i didn’t agree to

Is this pursuable in litigation?
I have multiple texts showing the “threats” also, they recorded my phone call with them without my permission

In the European institutions, when you get in trouble with an Head of Unit and this person fores you, you willl never be able to work for and EU institution such as the European Commission, European Parliament or the Council. On top of that, you are blacklisted as well for any of the EU agencies, snd even interim vacancies recruited locally by Interim agencies in Brussels. Internally they keep your registry. So leadership check it, and out of stupid blind loyalty, they won't risk giving you another chance! So basically the legislation on data protection and the right to be forgotten only applies outside and not to the regulator.😢

Wait. Don't you have to disclose to the company that you're recording the call? And if you do, doesn't that compromise the integrity of the comments? Would anyone agree to have such comments recorded in the first place? Or is the recording not disclosed, and doesn't that violate the law?

Will background check companies do business with an individual who does not represent a company, and who is likely an aggrieved former employee looking to document defamation/retaliation by his former employer?
