U.S. President Joe Biden will meet virtually on Friday with Japan's Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
It'll be the first official summit between the two.
The agenda is expected to be countermeasures against China, COVID-19 response coordination and North Korea.
The White House says the meeting would "highlight the strength of the U.S.-Japan alliance, which is the cornerstone of peace, security, and stability in the Indo-Pacific and around the world."
Biden is reportedly keen to work with Kishida on advancing their shared vision for a "free and open Indo-Pacific" and partnering on new, emerging technologies, including through the Quad... with Australia and India.
