Показать описание
In this episode I install a PCV onto the 1954 235 engine I installed in my 1949 Chevy 3100. I also upgrade the front turn signal/parking lights to amber/white LED's and mock up a bypass oil filter.
This is part 3 pf the PM series. The preventative maintenance series being done on this truck includes a 20k service (tuneup), a 10k service (repack wheel bearings/lube chassis), a 6k service (rotate tires) and a 3k service (oil & filter change). The series also includes adding a bypass oil filter and PCV mod to the 1954 235 engine installed in this 1949 truck.

Cool t shirt, I like the small air cleaners. As far as working or drive, for me it depends how the repair or upgrade goes, I’ve had jobs that should taken an hour take days guess that’s a 67 year old Truck, thanks for the video.

That’s what I thought you were running the PCV set up, as I also did on the 53, it just looked stock when I watched the distributor video on the springs

Those bulbs sure are bright. I added a pair of 1156 LED bulbs to my lawn tractor as a direct replacement for it's headlight bulbs and tried it out in the dark. It was like going from a kerosene lamp to a coleman gas lantern, LOL! And since the current draw is so low there's no dimming when you shut the mower off, unlike the old incandescent bulbs.

Very informative and easy to follow your episodes have helped a ton Thankyou . I have a question on identifying a Canadian 52 GMC 1 ton engine size, I ran the number stamped in the block but no luck, the engine may be a 235 that was put in as it has the engine mounts built in for a car as well its blue in color. Is there any sure way I can tell as I want to use it in another project.

Back when I was just starting out I had a 60 Willys Jeep and it had that same oil filter, well I decided I was going to change the oil but I forgot that big gasket for the lid driving down the road I noticed oil coming through the floorboards needless to say everything under the hood got oiled real good.

Very informative video. I want to convert to a PCV valve. My draft tube is already missing the tube. Would it hurt to put the PCV valve where the drat tube and down tube meet?

I need to make that PVC mod to my 55.1 235. And I like the l.e.d. Bulbs. I’ll have to try and get that too. I want to get my vacuum wipers to work. Have you did any rebuilding on your vacuum wiper motor. Mine doesn’t seem to want to work. It try’s to move but I think it’s gummed up. I also have a question not related to this video. I’m putting new radiator hoses on and noticed the new lower one doesn’t have a spring in it like the old one. I wonder if the newer modern one don’t need it ? It’s the smooth original looking one. Not the vulcanized built in spring type. Any thought on that ? I ruined my old spring trying to clean it up on the wire wheel. I appreciate your help and insight working on these ol gm straight sixes. I’m trying to keep mine as original as possible. No rush on answering or liking my comment cause I know we’re all busy guys with life in general. Every time I watch one of your videos I think there’s another thing I want or need to do. Hahaha Your an asset to us folks working on and enjoying our old chevy trucks . (and GMC ) keep up the good work it’s inspiring. Thanks again for an excellent video.

I thought about trying to replace the bulbs in my old Ranger with LEDs but if I have to bother with adding dropping resistors I'm inclined to just leave it be. If they have them to just "plug & play" I'd be a lot more apt to buy some.

Dave did you convert to 12v with a kit?

Boy Dave I wish you were my neighbor cause then my truck would be in tip top shape. Dave do you think this PCV would work on 216?

Dave my draft tube has the oil filler cap. Is it still ok to use for the PCV conversion? Also can you send me the PCV & grommet brand & part number. Would it hurt anything if I used an oil cap with a filter?

Dave I am going to replace my 6v voltage regulator. Is it just a remove & replace or is anything else needed?

Now you are going to have to get LEDs for your tail lights.
