Think my back just broke watching this vid.

Never sacrifice form for a rep. If you cant keep your form good, then it's not a rep. At least that's how i see it.

How much was this? 325 lbs? I'm proud to say my sister broke the national record for squat and deadlift in the 148 lb weight class. She weighs 142 lbs. and her deadlift was 380 lbs. and her squat was 365 lbs. She broke both records at the National High School Powerlifting Tournament in Denver, CO.

Man, it's easy to forget just how much weight this is when you see it lifted by such a young girl.

@MsSucka No steroids. I lift in the ADFPF "American DRUG FREE Powerlifting Federation" and I was tested at worlds last year.

@Canadarm123 I never thought you were criticising my lift, and even if you were I wouldn't have cared. I kinda like criticism if its constructive. I just didn't want you to look at my lift and think that's how a good sumo deadlift should look cause it's not. I lift with my back because of my knees not because of the sumo stance. Which, incidentally, I need to go in for more surgey on my knees in two days.

Irina is amazing isn't she! :)

Sumo can be a better option for tall people too. At 6'4'' I was shredding up my shins so bad, with the conventional deadlift, that I had to wait long stretches of time for healing. To move the weight in front of my shins more I either had to round my back or widen my stance. So I started to use the sumo method. I saw very little difference in the weight I could pull in the transition. The weight is still heavy no matter which way you stand.

she made that look easy. But the form can be worked on.

It's a powerlifting competition, i.e. 1RMs. Form won't always be textbook.

The hunched over back. She lifted with 80% back & 20% legs. She'll herniate a disk if she keeps that up.

@FLEXFitnessCenter
Hey for something that looked easy for here... You should join Cornhuskers state games and compete in the powerlifting meet and from that can that be guy/girl?

@slimbw93 actually, you are wrong, sumo puts WAY less stress one the lower back.

Yes, sumo does require less effort than a conventional deadliest. BUT! Learning to pull sumo requires an incredible amount of practice and training, that is why most don't like it, because it doesn't come to them very easily.

ouch my back! she should really consider not deadlifting sumo style, it puts alot of un-needed wear and tear on the muscles of the lower back

EVERY single video you get onto that shows someone lifting more than a commenter can. They have to put "Bad form"
