One thing helping Discraft is that they're the go to brand for ultimate. If an ultimate player starts disc golf, they maybe more inclined to throw their discs. I think that is why the Brodie Smith signing is huge for them.

I started about a year and a half ago and I was drawn to Discraft more than Innova. Probably because the Discraft starter set I got had higher quality discs vs Innova's. I remember learning about Paul MacBeth's name really early on too.

I love Innova and the names of the frisbees plus it feels easier to figure out what they do as a beginner. Other manufacturers to me make it harder to figure out what they do. Although I wouldn't mind trying them out. Keep up the great work!

Im part of a beginners group of disc golfers, there are about 30+ of us that play leagues and tourneys together and we have all started in the past year or so. I would say that among this group of newer players Innova is kind of seen as the boring old man of the disc golf scene and very few of these newer players are throwing Innova outside of a couple of Halo Star series discs here and there.

I would say the bags of our rookie group would go 1) Discraft (McBeth series is huge) 2) MVP 3) Trilogy 4) Innova 5) Discmania.

However, Im talking about the rookie group at our DGC. Among the veterans Innova still dominates bags.

It might be fair to factor in Innova and Discraft's sister companies into the comparison. Innova has so many extensions in the game that their numbers are actually significantly higher than at face value. This doesn't negate Discraft's current trend, but it's still a big mountain to climb.

I was in 3 stores this week and they all said the same thing. "We don't get enough Discraft product and it leaves the shelf fast, while innova sends huge shipments so we suggest innova similar discs and that's how the innova moves off the shelf."

When I started playing disc golf nearly 3 years ago, I was given 3 discs: An Innova Sonic, Discraft Buzzz and Discraft Xtreme. It took about a year to gravitate to Innova exclusively, and I started buying only Innova discs, but for whatever reason branched out to Infinite and Discmania to fill in the blanks when I couldn't get what I wanted from Innova. But I could see myself getting some Discraft exclusives like a Zone or a Sting to fill in gaps down the line, given they are said to have unique flight paths for their speed and dimensions.

Awesome video! I enjoy throwing both Discraft and Innova discs, I feel like both provide a really quality product. I also feel like perhaps Innova’s top focuses are not necessarily sponsoring players, whereas Discraft seems to have made a priority of sponsoring big names in the sport and allowing those players to create signature lines of discs which as paid off big time this year! I wonder if as disc golf’s popularity continues to grow and the top names become more household known if Innova will transition more into marketing their sponsored players? Such an interesting conversation! 👍

Forking out that amount of money shows their faith in there products and future. I can see the advertising and sport grow due to the big names as Discraft takes the top spot.

If trilogy would sign any big name player I'd like to think they could close the gap with Innova and discraft

I recently start playing (last year), and I acquired some discs of both brands from an ex pro in my area. I much prefer Innova because of the way the plastic is and how I can easily tell what each disc does because of the numbers labeled right there on the disc.
EDIT: while watching the video more, the discraft number system also seems confusing too with the decimals vs innova’s whole number system.

The only store near me that carries discs is Dick’s sporting goods. It’s all Innova. Discraft needs to get into big named retail stores. With the growth of disc golf, hopefully we will see Discraft discs in more places. I love my Luna

For discraft to overtake innova they will have to produce more discs so stocks don't run out and match Innova prices. Innova discs tend to be about 2 or 3 dollars cheaper and that does make a difference. You will get brand fans who stick to the brand they like but you have many like me who really doesn't care what brand is on the disc. I will buy what is in stock for the best price.

I think signing Brodie is bigger than Paige or Paul. Though obviously Paige and Paul are more skilled than Brodie, Brodie is able to reach a larger percentage of players due to his personality and following than either of the others. All are huge signings. Everyone wants to play with the best discs and if these players are playing with Discraft everyone will be wanting to try discraft discs.

When I started playing in the early 90's, Innova pretty much dominated the market share. Discraft was also around, but didn't nearly have a market share anywhere near Innova. It also helped Innova during the 90's that Ken Climo was dominating the sport. I believe that Innova basically had sponsorship deals with all the best players at that time.

With that being said, I gravitated toward the Discraft brand. I just found their discs more to my liking and throwing style for some reason, and I've been using them ever since. It's been my go to brand since I started and I don't see myself ever switching brands. I mean, the first time I threw the Buzz, I knew it was the brand for me. It's still probably my favorite mid-range disc of all time. And since I'm terrible at the side arm forehand throw, I even use the Status when needed for sharp right turn shots.

The only thing I hate now is how expensive discs have gotten compared to when I first started.

The best point that I didn’t hear you make is that Discraft has a better marketing department. I see so much more for Discraft on social media. They actually market their players. Paul, Paige and Brody all have a line of discs that always sell out. Uli and Ezra are selling out. And the trade market is crazy for them. I don’t feel like Innova is marketing Wysocki or Heimborg enough. And that may come to bite them when those two look to renegotiate.

They will absolutely pass Innova. They have the best overall team, the best online presence and are not slowing down anytime soon

Innova has had quality control issues, and players/ disc buyers are sick of the inconsistencies...

The Paige Pierce signing was not clean. She backed out of her contract with Dynamic Discs and the whole community swirled around her playing damage control. It was in there best interest so I could careless about their involvement . That being said. In my opinion Discraft is decent, but I would rank Innova 1st, Dynamic Disc 2nd and Discmania and Discraft 3rd when it comes to overall disc quality and customer experience purchasing and interface with said company as standard for ranking.
