With the Solicitor General stating before the Supreme Court that a Data Protection Bill will be introduced before the Parliament in the second half of the Budget Session 2023, engaging with the draft Digital Personal Data Protection Bill, 2022 has become more important than ever.
In IFF’s brief on the DPDPB, 2022, we outline the legislative history of data protection legislation, flag the various issues with the DPDPB, 2022, highlight the problems with the consultation process, compare the DPDPB, 2022 with the Data Protection Bill, 2021 as well as similar legislations in other jurisdictions, and enumerate our recommendations.
