Thank you for taking time to produce and publish this video. I do have a question regarding traveling without a valid PR card:

Isn't the valid PR card really a requirement to `travel' to Canada (via commercial carrier, UNLESS the PR is a U.S. citizen flying with their U.S. passport, alone) and not an actual requirement to `enter' Canada once the PR arrives at the airport PoE?
The commercial carrier could be financially responsible for returning the traveler back to where their flight originated, if the traveler (PR) is denied entry into Canada. It makes sense that they would be cautious when boarding the PR. They are likely not aware that a PR CANNOT be denied entry. Even without a PR card, CBSA would ultimately be able to see that the traveler is in fact a PR of Canada and remains as such unless/until their PR status is revoked, or renounced. I am NOT encouraging this, because at the very least, the PR would probably get a strong tongue lashing from the CBSA officer)s)...but they would be allowed to enter Canada.

Even if the officer suspects that the PR has not met the R.O., to MAINTAIN PR status...they are still allowed to enter....hoping that a 44(1) report has not been written by the officer!

Also worth noting that a PR card is, primarily a status document before it is a travel document. PRs shouldn't resist renewing their card, even if they don't think they're going to be leaving Canada anytime soon! Time to plan for that much deserved vacation NOW!

Hello, I am from Afghanistan. I entered Canada by land on March 2, 2023 without a passport and applied for asylum. The court decision was positive on October 31, 2023 and I applied for a PR card. I just received an email saying that I applied. And in this email, it says that my application has been sent and that they will contact me later. By the way, I applied for a travel document and it arrived a week ago. Can I go back and forth to Turkey without any problems with my travel document and court decision? or what do I need to go back and forth without any problems? Thank you.

Hello, I have a similar situation and I came across your video. I received my COPR (Jan 2024) and I have not received my PR card yet (it’s April 2024). I have to travel to India as I am getting married. I do not have time to apply for PRTD as the processing time is high( upto 1.5 months) and I do not have approved leave (from work)for that long. I have US visitor visa. Can i go to India and fly back to US And then travel to Canada in a Friends car?

Hello there,
Need professional advise on my situation here where I have applied to renew my PR card over a month ago now and have another 6weeks before my flight back home to Ethiopia for a month of stay.

Now the issue is I see my pr renewal application status at IRCC as in process but not sure if it would make it on time for my travel date on January 5th ( about 6 weeks from now ) .

I am really stressed on what to do as I did research options and am familiar with the permanent residence travel document I can apply for once am in Ethiopia but there is no specific processing time I can find online to ease my concern as I have a flight back to Canada on February 7th and really want to be able to return on my flight back date so not sure which of the below are the option for my case
1) Extend my travel dates as no way that my renewed pr would make it on time by January 5th

2) Apply for PRTD once am in Ethiopia and if it’s for sure will be processed with in 3-4 weeks ( I have been in Canada for over 4 years out of the 5 so I have confirmed I qualify)


3) Last but best option if my current application that I have submitted and was received by the IRCC on October 25th will be here on time before my flight date to Ethiopia which is on January 5th


I am really concerned as I want to make I go with the best decision here and take the safest option

Hello Sir, I am on open work permit in canada expiring in 2024 and travelling to the UK in April 2023. I have submitted all documents as I received my ITA in nov 2022.
What should I do before going to UK for my vacation for them to not issue my CoPR while I’m on vacation? Call IRCC?

Hello Maple Team, i have a valid ecopr and TRV, they never delivered my PR card and I have submitted a solemn declaration on that front. I came to India on an emergency. can I come back on my TRV, cuz technically I never received my PR card. Thanks

I am in U.S.A now & both my PR card & passport got stolen & there is no way to recover them but i have my COPR document issued more than 2 years now, Drivers license & photo copies of passport & PR card.Also i am driving my own car registered under my name.would i be allowed to drive back to enter a land border without PR card & passport?please help
