NIKE LEBRON TR 1 | Overview & Sizing Thoughts

The Nike LeBron TR 1 has been a highly anticipated shoe in the cross-training shoe scene.

This model is slated to be an athlete-driven shoe in that it's designed to work for lifting, explosive work, and agility training. Thus far in my sessions, I've enjoyed this shoe, but there are a few caveats I have with them.

For example, this is a SNUGGER-fitting training shoe with a fair amount of arch. If you have wide feet or you're used to wider shoes, you'll want to consider this.

In addition, the upper and midsole combination is interesting. I think for certain foot anatomies, spillover may be a little more prevalent.

If you have narrow or medium-width feet, then you should be fine in these models. My favorite type of workouts to do in this shoe thus far are workouts where I'm blending strength and power movements.

As I build out my full review, I'll be keeping an eye on the forefoot's midsole durability and if it runs into the same issue that the Nike Free Metcon 6 has.

I buy the shoes I review, and I try to answer everyone's questions. If you'd like to support the channel, join the TF2 OG crew below!

Membership saves you 5% on That Fit Friend Shop, gets you a free month of training to TF2 Strength, comes with exclusive future shoe build videos (videos where I want to exclusively ask for shoe testers to get product first), and badges next to your handle.

I set this up so it pays for itself, I always want That Fit Friend to give to the community that gives to it.

Great review! I was wondering how the fit would be with the extended midsole. I was hoping it wouldn’t be too narrow, especially since Nike specifically said in their press release that the shoe was designed with a wider forefoot.

Appreciate the review as I was wondering about these. Looks like I missed out on the initial wave though. 🤷‍♂️

More importantly, I noticed the TF2 socks in the thumbnail!! When do those drop? Did I miss it??

Also, really sorry to hear about your dad. Takes more than just physical strength to share something like that. I'm glad you've built a platform where you feel comfortable letting us know something so personal. Wishing you and your family the best moving forward.

Thanks for the review. If I’m doing more plyometrics that involve lateral movements and jumps than weight lifting, should I get this or the Free Metcon 6?

Do you have other favorites for athletic and lateral movements like the ones you mentioned work well in this shoe? Looking for something new for sport (soccer) specific training / lifting, but not running

I’m a fan of LeBron, and I’m really interested in these shoes. Do you think they are suitable for CrossFit? I’m torn between buying these or the Metcon 9.

I’m wondering if they fit like other Nike models as far as sizing goes. I wear a 10 in Kobe’s and those are pretty snug, just nervous to make an order for them

Put these through 3 bootcamp style workouts and while they did get more comfortable over time my biggest issue was the upper volume. I generally like booty-style training shoes, but due to the upper material, which doesn't stretch much, i found them really rubbing the tops of my feet. I hope they continue the line and make improvements, but these were a no-go for me.

Also, upon a second viewing, I can't stop laughing at the line, "The booty doesn't have a ton of stretch". (Sorry, I'm 7 on the inside.)

Was looking at getting these for my first training shoe but doesn't look like that anymore. What would you recommend for a flat footed person that uses a custom orthotics for knee problems, I am mostly doing strength/plyometric training squats, jumps, and sprints. I already have running shoes.
