🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation:

00:14 🧠 Memory is the ability to retain and utilize information, shaping who we are and what we know.
00:42 👁️ Sensory memory briefly retains initial sensory experiences; limited duration.
02:06 🧠 Short-term memory (working memory) is actively utilized, lasts 20-30 seconds; capacity around 5-9 items.
05:09 📚 Long-term memory has explicit (semantic, episodic) and implicit (procedural) components.
07:44 🧠 Explicit memory is consciously recalled facts/events (semantic) or personal experiences (episodic); Implicit memory is unconsciously recalled skills (procedural).

I would love to see a video on how reliable our memory is. I've heard that the more we recall situations, our brains only recall the last time we recalled it, so the story we're telling can change or we can remember it incorrectly. Is that true?

I have severe short term memory & working memory deficiencies. If that wasn't bad enough I also have various other learning disabilities ranging from an auditory processing disorder to some level of attention deficit disorder. I have tried to find ways to compensate & improve things my whole life but to no avail. Was wondering if anyone was aware of any kind of detailed system or highly regimented protocol that I could employ to help compensate for these deficiencies. If I could just find a way to help with the short term & working memory problems to a decent degree - I'd be 90% "fixed". Most of the documented advice that I have come across on the subject is incredibly vague & not all that effective. Thank you!

Any tips on how to most rapidly consolidate short term into long term memories? All I have so far is "review just before sleep" and then "review the next day". other ideas about consolidation of memory into long term?

The real question I have is, how come I can remember a bunch of stuff I did yesterday, in order, and I can also remember a very intense thing that happened like 20 years ago? I remember both just as well, but I know that some were recent and others were old. There must be some kind of time component involved.
