The connection between Casey Jones and Kick-Ass is they're both masked vigilantes who serve street justice for New York City and have a backstory of unfortunately losing one of their parents (Casey's father Arnold Casey Jones Sr. was killed by the Purple Dragons, and Dave's mother Alice Lizewski died from a brain aneurysm), leaving them to be raised by a single parent (Casey's mother Mrs. Jones, and Dave's father James Lizewski). Both have a preference for blunt weaponry and are strong allies to colorful masked heroes who were trained by their fathers (the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Hit-Girl). Both of their fathers were killed at some point due to the actions of their archenemies (Hun and Chris D'Amico), which led to them seeking to avenge their deaths. Both also formed a romantic relationship with a red-haired woman who they eventually started living with (April O'Neil and Valerie). Both of their characters were created to be parodies of vigilante heroes that were popular in comics.

Casey is actually better trained, he did train with the turtles and is proficient, in mix martial arts, from judo, Jujutsu, Muay Thai to the basics of in greek roman wrestling and boxing, he may come off as brawler but he can use the environment to his advantage like a trash can lid for Cap's Shield or a hockey puck,
