Tim's Tribute To The Late Queen

Tim recently reached the grand old age of 80 years old. So he remembers the news being announced of the death of King George VI - he was ten years old at the time. And the following year, he recalls watching the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II on a small black and white tv with 20 or 30 other pupils at school.

Today he brought to the studio a few items that celebrate various moments of the Queen's reign.

From the coronation in 1953, he has one of the plastic plaques that he thinks were made in huge numbers, and displayed all over the UK.

From the Silver Jubilee, he has a telescopic 'view' which shows the coronation procession. And also one of the Royal Silhouette Vases, which show the profiles of the Queen and of Prince Philip. But when the vase is rotated, the silhouettes morph from one side of the vase to the other.

I replayed it several times looking for faces in shadow on the vase, it gave me a jump when my eye finally settled on the black negative space and saw it!
