2:38 when it comes to planes, they are literally the safest form of travel, you are by far more likely to die in a car crash than dying in a plane crash. I love watching this show called "Mayday, Air crash investigation" and I have watched every episode and I still would be a pilot if I could because I know all the problems we have had with flying in the past have been solved and fixed

Ah yes, survivors guilt, the most difficult of emotions for me to deal with EVERY single May. My Dad died in 1976 on a fishing trip that I was supposed to have gone on with him. I was nine years old.

With regards to the shaman if it was really about that dream he could have just lied yea but told them the ritual was them spitting in a bunch of jars until he collected enough saliva not kill them. I mean how do you collect saliva from a dead body? Nah he just wanted kill.

So about the story of the Shaman, it sound super crazy and difficult for us to understand how this could happen and why anyone would go along with it, and I totally understand that, but it is important to remember that this is a small village in Indonesia. There is likely a great lack of worldly awareness about this kind of thing. Whereas we have no shortage of crime dramas letting us know just how ridiculous certain things are they probably don't. On top of that anyone responding to a man calling himself a Shaman is likely extremely superstitious and one can only imagine what kind of folk stories they grew up with talking about magical rituals that may have on some level oddly normalized doing incredible or dangerous things in order to achieve what some magical person was telling them.
Lastly, and most unfortunately, you also have to consider that culturally speaking being women in this situation there is a great deal of cultural brainwashing to just do what a man tells you, especially one that you have already given so much money and sets himself up as an authority of a spiritual nature. I'm afraid that many of these women likely felt that once they had gotten to a certain point in this process there may have been no thought that they could quit halfway through or even consider their own safety.

My Father suffered survivor's guilt. Being the eldest of 6 siblings, he outlived all of the others. He passed when he was 90 years old, none of the others made it passed 75. He had a hard time with the fact he outlived them.
