cool adventures in small cars....love it....btw....I think the wheels on the Saab are called Soccer my uncle had a body shop here in dallas from early 60's to mid 80's ...i remember in the early 70's he had an orange Sonett

My Dad had a '62 T'Bird convertible in that same blue color. Seeing this one was a stroll down memory lane. I'd forgotten about the tilt-away steering column that moved up and to the right to make getting in and out easier. The Saab Sonnet III was Saab's attempt at a sports car for the American market. They were made out of fiberglass and had some unique features, but with only a V-4 Ford tractor engine, they weren't all that fast, especially when compared to the V-8 power in a Mustang or Camaro. Saab only built about 8500 of them.

When I owned my Renault dauphine I had the experience of vapor lock it is very frustrating. I had to use thread lock on the carburetor bolts to keep them from vibrating loose causing fuel spray everywhere.

Maybe I heard wrong, but I thought you said Mount Arrowsmith. I looked for one down there in Oregon, but couldn't find it. There's one close to where I live here on Vancouver Island though.

I had a 66 Thunderbird Town sedan with a 390 4 Barrel 315 horse it was geared about three to one so if you were light on the throttle you could get in the teens for mileage. And 66 is the best front end for that type Thunderbird much cleaner almost Mustang like.
