Tour my friend’s NEW HOME in Tuscany! PART 2 - thoughts on remodeling

My oldest friend in Italy bought a house in Chianti, Tuscany.

In part 1, we go see my friend, Catherine's hotel called Villa Bordoni, just outside Greve in Chianti. we will take inspiration and see the style and artisan work that she adores and hopes to apply to her new home.

In part 2, we'll walk through the 3-bedroom house that Catherine has just moved into and has to make "her own" over time.

Catherine and I worked together when we were both much younger.
We made a fun little wine bar in Florence, called Enoteca Baldovino (no longer there), very trendy. It was a fun time, and then we grew up. We had babies, and Catherine went on to the hotel business, and I eventually started doing wine tours in Tuscany.

Lovely home and very exciting project! It might be nice to put a big mirror above the radiator as a first attempt to increase your view from the bed, and it will bring more light into the room.

Look at Fhiaba Panel Ready Refrigerator and Freezer columns. It can look like a big Armoire and the panel reveal is 1/16” so it will look like furniture. A Fulgor Milano 48” Range would be great and you can get color doors on it!

What a beautiful home, the things she talked about will make it stunning! It would be wonderful to see the progress as she does all the things! I dream of living in Italy even though I have never been. Planning on going in May 2024, I can't wait! I want to visit the small towns, not really interested in going where all the tourists are. Maybe one day owning a small vacation home, I can dream...

Keep the bed where it is now. That wall where radiator is presently will be too small for head board and nightstands. Save money as well. Best wishes on your renovation. Beautiful area.

What a stunning property.Thats a find and a half. How much is the property price before starting the renovation and your estimateed budget for project completion. Very jealous

In the kitchen for now, next to the sink is the big cabinet. I would move it down a few feet and put make shift cabinet same height as sink, to extend work surface. The tall cabinet can be turned either way for functionality, this is just a temporary fix until you get your pennies together to do up kitchen.

Grazie mille to you both, and to Catherine especially, for so transparently showing and sharing her new home. can see how well it suits her criteria!. Good layout, superb views and lots of windows and light. And some great features like the fireplaces, and quirky metal security screens, and love the beautiful fence gate between the living and kitchen! Will be fascinated to see the eventual decor choices of the living and office areas, could see the living with some dark reflective surface to make cosy, and raspberry, an interesting, strong color choice for the office, i wonder if with both darker would become too much? But then can also do just feature walls.. or muted versions.🤔 And living with fantastic views outside my bedroom, can luknow being side on no problem, nice alcove feature behind the bed that could be developed where it is now.. And love to see some beams added in there. And 2 great bathrooms, love the taps also, but agree need a nice shower instead of 2 baths. 👍. Watching from Melbourne, Australia, and planning to move perhaps around Suvareto, Maremma area so have good beach access. And will definitely visit bella Villa Bordoni, such a good restoration Job on too! Congratulations! And all best with the redecoration. Brava, ciao & Salute 😊👏🏡🍷💐

Enjoying your tour with Catherine. I'm wondering if to keep the staircase handrail the same, but switch wrought iron uprights, for plain small slender wooden spindles to match handrail; for simple elegance. And simple decor. Move the bed, capture the view. Move the radiator - for sure. For sure, wake up every day to that expanse.

The house is of a perfect size, well for me too! Haha. I think it oozes character yet, did she say it was 60's built?

I think I would try to move it if not too much involved move it, 🩷😊oh i love this house ……this is a dream of mine I am 58 yrs and it’s been my lifelong dream to live the rest of my days in Italy. I live in. Charleston, SC and have 3 precious dogs, continue blessings
