Falkirk Wheel. A real time view of the Falkirk Wheel turning 180 degrees. The wheel joins two canals and gives access to Glasgow and Edinburgh. It is an engineering masterpiece and a must visit attraction in Scotland.
It's not quite correct to say that tourists were never in mind when the Millennium Link works took place. The Union canal, and the Forth & Clyde canals, originally, were very much commercial routes, easier to move large cargoes that way. No-one in the 21st century, in Scotland, is going to shift cargo that way, rightly or wrongly. Now, it is a well-used route for leisure purposes. I live in Edinburgh, a short walk from the Union Canal, and all sorts of boats use it, from kayaks & canoes to full-sized canal boats. It is very well loved, and appreciated by everyone who lives near it. 👍

My parents lived not far from this for 30 years but I have never been sadly (my kids did with their grandparent) but that was 20 years ago

Makes no sense why not dig the the top river water to connect to the bottom river like a ramp instead of this is contraption?😅
