How to remove a club car DS steering wheel.

amazing!! It worked!! I tried hammering with a rubber mallet from the back side. I also tried to brace the steering wheel with my knees and hit the shaft with a hammer. None worked. Fo those that want to try this method, make sure you are wear a full face shield with a thick jacket and welding gloves. You also need to make sure the puller is lined up with the steering shaft perfectly. Once the tension is at its max, I hit the back of the puller screw with a ball pin hammer. The shock from the strike is what finally popped the thing off. I do mean pop. The steering wheel flew 8 feet to the back of the golf cart.

Very smart. I wasted a lot of time today with the gear puller breaking its grip on the steering wheel and coming loose. I can't wait to try this hack tomorrow! Thanks.

Great idea. I just used your method. Once I got tension on the straps I gave the back side of the steering wheel a couple of whacks with a rubber hammer and it popped right off. Thanks again!

I like the idea of the nylon straps! Definitely the hardest pull you will ever do. No idea why club had to make it so difficult. Also, when reinstalling I barely tightened the nut...

I used a slight different kind of puller (2 arms removed the arms, used 2 straps) and surprised it actually worked. Good idea.

Smart and simple.  Well done man.  Thanks for the help, I would have ripped my steering wheel off otherwise, or cut it off like some others suggest.  Not necessary.

I got mine off with a touch and a hammer. Took a minute but it did the trick.
I was dealing with an aftermarket steering wheel and adapter.
