Wow that's the best idea I've seen. I did it and it worked so good. I can't hear my grandparents doing the hanky panky no more. Thank you

Thank you for the video. Not all hollow doors have honey comb fillers so this may work perfectly in some situations. The hard part is figuring out what the inside of your door looks like without taking it apart :/

I was thinking of putting rocks inside my hollow core doors because for me, it's not about temp. insulation, or sound insulation, it's about the weight. I just cant stand the cheesiness of the lightweighted-ness of the hollow core door.

Does the foam dry out in the door like that?

I guess buddy doesnt know the core is separated by cardboard to keep the panels from collapsing. his foam is just filling between two pieces.

Great Stuff expands quite a bit. Did you have issues with the door deforming (billowing out) due to the internal pressure?

How about fill it with hard resin instead ?

This doesn't help sound proofing at all.

Some people talking about how this is absolutely a fail bc the door has honeycomb cardboard in it, but that’s not 100% true. I’ve had one apart and there was only cardboard (1x2x6 in roughly) at 6-10 support locations along the area. This door was ~ 95% hollow. Only purpose seemed to be to keep the front and back from moving independently not as an insulator/sound deadening material

Well considering this is probably a cardboard honey comb door, you'll need a lot more holes but good idea overall.

Thank you for this video. I was in the middle of a domestic violence situation when the victim tried to run into my room because her boyfriend tried to shoot her. I had a cane under my door knob so she couldn't break in because she tried. This is when I noticed the door could easily be broken into. Good ole apartment living with roommates.

If you insist on "making your hollow core door solid core" for what ever nonsensical reason. Use a razor blade to carefully separate one of the panels from the frame, just do enough to get a puddy knife in there.. Then use the puddy knife to separate the top, one side, and the bottom. Leaving the hinge side intact. Carefully lift the panel and remove the honeycomb or what ever cardboard internal structure it has. If you use great stuff its gonna take 3 or more cans per door. At $4 a can, you're better off using 3/4" expanded polystyrene sheets. A 3'×8' sheet is around $6 bucks. Cut it to fit the I.D. of the internal door framing, than slide it in. You shouldn't even need adhesive. Use construction adhesive to close it all back up. This will make the door a little tiny bit heavier if thats what you're going for. But if you're looking to help sound proof it, your better off filling it tightly with packing peanuts. ✌️

the problem with this is that the door will inflate

Complete and utter fail as many posted below Hollow core doors usually have a honeycomb grit in them which separates the doors into many pockets and Cavities you're only feeling a small portion at best....a complete fail
