This scene was so crucial. It showed you how smart the Xenomorphs were. They send some drones in to test for weaknesses. Some get blown to bits as collateral damage. They then learn from this, which is why they come in through the ceilings later on in the movie. This part should've stayed in!

Hudson: "Maybe we got 'em demoralised" 😂

This is the defintion of survival horror. Assets matter, ammo matters.

I’ll never understand why by this wasn’t in the original movie release. Even today, this scene raises my blood pressure. It CLEARLY defines what they are up against and raises the stakes. Absolutely brilliant.

I love how this scene is done almost exclusively from the characters' perspective. You don't get any lengthy shots of the aliens being blown apart, just a couple of glimpses. Makes it way more intense and terrifying because you feel trapped in there along with the characters.

The “10 rounds remaining” always give me chills. This movie is so awesome!

The way Ripley says, “they’re at the pressure door” conveys quiet but enormous fear. One of the best movies ever made.

great unspoken character development in everyone ignoring the kid as she tries to see what everyone is talking about until she bumps into Hicks and he actually takes a second to pick her up and put her on the table so she can be part of the discussion.

For 1986, that is still one of the single greatest sequels to this day.

I know it's just a movie but those sentry guns were pretty badass!
They just need a bit more ammo.

Honestly, this is how you do a "cool tech" scene properly. I feel like a lot of movies, as in alien and predator sequels / crossovers, focus too much on new cool weapons, new cool aliens, new cool predators, all without actually adding anything to the movie itself besides a "Cool." factor.

It has all been brought up before, many times, but this scene actually integrates the cool tech with the fact that the aliens are numerous, determined, AND able to learn. The guns were badass, they slowed the aliens down, but it did not stop them, you got to see the characters talk and react realistically about the situation, the shooting, the screams, the critical warning beeping, all added tension to the scene as they literally watched their strongest defense expend itself. Great shit, wish movies did it more rather than just trying to prop up the cool factor on the back of some piece of technology, hoping the audience will froth at the mouth for it like morons.

Newt's so good in these scenes. They have her playing realistically as a cute kid without her character being there for comic relief. She does nothing, in fact, to cut the tension and, if anything, her vulnerability adds to the sense of danger. But Ripley, Hicks, and some of the others being shown keeping an eye on her or making sure she's included (like picking her up so she can see the blueprint screen too) is so effective in character building. The kind of surrogate family they form by the end doesn't feel forced at all-- it's made pretty clear early on that they're all up for it.

"Maybe we got them demoralized" always makes me laugh. So silly they cut this scene.

That bit at the end is what makes Hicks such a good leader. He knows they are all on edge, so he takes a moment to show he understands that and reiterates the importance of keeping their perimeter secture. He inspires Vasquez and Hudson to do their best.

Forget Beethoven, there is no better music than the screams of Xenomorphs as they are chopped up by sentry guns.

This is how you do real horror, by building up tension, not with cheap jumpscares.

I love how this shows Ripley with the flamethrower. This shows her reaction to grab the weapon she is more comfortable with at this point in the movie. Mostly due to her using the incinerator on the Nostromo. She instinctively grabs the weapon she knows she can use rather than be helpless. Great way to show the strength of a female character and great acting on Sigourney’s part.

Damn impressive scene, you can just feel the tension building as the ammo count drops and the warning alarms go off. Would love to see another scene like this in future movies, but doubt that it will ever live up to this.
