You likely won’t notice a difference between 5.1K and 6K footage, especially for YouTube and general content creation.

Why?

1️⃣ Minimal Resolution Increase

5.1K (5120x2700) vs. 6K (6144x3160)

This is only about a 20% increase in resolution, which is barely noticeable unless zooming in or viewing on a very large 6K+ screen.


2️⃣ Compression & Platform Limits

YouTube and most platforms max out at 4K—so 6K won’t matter once uploaded.

Even if you're editing in 6K and downscaling to 4K, the difference is very minor compared to 5.1K.


3️⃣ Sensor & Optics Matter More Than Resolution

The Mavic 4 Pro and Mavic 3 Pro use a 4/3-inch sensor—image quality is more dependent on dynamic range, lens quality, and sensor performance than just the number of pixels.

Hasselblad color science and D-Log are the real game changers, not the extra pixels.


4️⃣ Higher Resolution = More Processing Power Needed

6K files are larger, harder to edit, and require more storage.

5.1K already gives excellent sharpness with a manageable file size and editing workflow.

Where Would 6K Matter?

✅ If you need extra room for cropping or reframing without losing detail.
✅ If you’re producing content for cinema-level productions (but even then, most pros shoot in 5K or 4K RAW).
✅ If you’re delivering in true 6K resolution (which most people aren’t).

📌 For 99% of users, there’s no meaningful difference between 5.1K and 6K in real-world use.
📌 You’d only see a small difference if you zoom in heavily or crop aggressively.
📌 Mavic 3 Pro’s 5.1K is already beyond what most people need.

Considering that the Mavic 3 Pro Fly More Combo is currently available for as low as $1, 500–$1, 800 for a brand-new unit, it's a much smarter choice than the Mavic 4 Pro. The Mavic 3 Pro is just as good, and in some ways even better, making its value far superior given the price difference.
