Jaylani Hussein, Executive Director of CAIR-MN, spoke out Wednesday afternoon, praising the conviction of Derek Chauvin as proof of the effectiveness of protests over the past year.

"The next time they pull over a Black person, they should fear pulling that trigger because there's going to be accountability in this city," he said. "There's gonna be accountability in this state. We're fighting to save lives."

"We're fighting to make sure that this government that we pay our tax dollars to doesn't come back and kill our loved ones."

Hussein also introduced Bayle Gelle, a member of the Somali community and father of Dolal Idd, a young man also killed by Minneapolis Police.
