The Total Gym XL7 comes with a floor mat, a squat stand, and five additional attachments. We'll do an unboxing so that you can see all the accessories, and we'll show how to set it up and take it down. Also how to install the attachments, where they go, and what they do.

(Note: The 20" ties mentioned in the video was meant as a minimum length. These ties should be adequate for most chairs. You will simply cut off the extra length.)

Yes, your video was awesome, and I never would have been able to figure it out using the so-called instruction booklet 😊

Please remove the cable from the glideboard before performing exercises that involve the squat stand, the press bars or the dip bars, etc.

This is the video I needed. I was so confused by the instructions, I left the total gym mid assembly for 3 days until I found this video. It is now up and running and I tested the accessories. Thank you so much for taking the time to show how to setup and put the accessories together!

Mike,
I have a Total Gym xtreme that has a similar Height Adjustment Column and two-pin system for the XL7 you demonstrate in your YouTube video.

Thank you for holding the camera so that the mechanism's details can clearly be seen. I’ve watched too many videos with poor contrast or picture-in-picture frames that block a clear view of what one is supposed to see.

After pulling out the Black Knob-Pin and getting the Height Adjustment Column into a 90-degree position relative to the Center Support Rail, my problem has been getting the Height Adjustment Assembly to smoothly move past the zero position on the Height Adjustment Column.

The Yellow (Red in your video) Knob-Pin won’t move and release. After bathing it in lubricant, even placing my foot on the Back Crossbar doesn’t give me the leverage I need to move the Height Adjustment Assembly from zero up the column.

I tried spraying the part of the Assembly that wraps around the column liberally with lubricant. That frees up the Yellow Knob-Pin just enough to give me enough leverage between my foot and the Crossbar, but I still end up out of breath before I even start a workout!

In your video, the Yellow Knob-Pin and the Height Adjustment Assembly all move smoothly.

When I was able to get the product to work, I was satisfied. But I HATE this part of the setup.

Do you have any suggestions for dealing with these sticky parts?

That stupid C pin. When I first got this machine 2 years ago, I tried to tie it on to the machine so it wouldnt get lost. Tried attaching a zip tie as tight as I could and it slippled off. Tight a string to it hoping for the best. Got lost anyway. Paid nearly $20 for a new one. Now I wrapped the outside part of the pin with a piece of rigged plastic as a tab, duck tape around both, hole punch a hole, and attached to machine with paracord. Hopefully I don't lose the pin again. I'm so annoyed I didnt figure this out in the first place.

The floor mat is I think a yoga mat. It's for doing other exercises on and not for the Total gym to stand on. I have a newer Fit Max Total gym. The yoga mat did not come in my box.

These clear instructions helped a lot with the setup of my Apex G5. Thank you very much. I hate assembling things since factory instructions are never too clear. 10/10 with the video. Very clear and understandable instructions.

Thank you for the video. Your instructions were much more clear than the pamphlet provided for set up.

I absolutely agree about the mat! Can't wait to see what your alternative is. Do not want to scratch my sister's laminate floors 🤭

I bought this exact model for $230 back in 2020… right before the lockdown. It’s a good machine if you are willing to put the time into using it. I have a pair of 55lbs adjustable dumbbells that I can combine this machine with. I also have a stationary bike I bought online for well under $200. I have everything I need

Hi Mike.
Thanks for you excellent video instructions. My friend gave me a used Total Gym, DK/XL 046393.
It sat in my garage for a couple of years. Having no clue of how to use it. I was stupid enough to remove the cable & tried to reassemble cable with pulleys. I messed it all up. Could you please help me with reassembling it correctly.
thanks.
