How to Make a Flight Plan - X-Plane 11 Tutorial 1

This the the first tutorial for X-Plane 11 which covers flight planning. There are many ways of making a flight plan and you can select any one of them according to your convenience.

Initially I struggled a lot in making a flight plan and entering it in the FMS. After several trials I was able to make my own flight plans. The method used by me in this video is the easiest and it enables me to make a flight plan and enter it in the FMS within 5 minutes.

Hi. Melom is not your SID (standard instrument departure). Melom is a waypoint where the MELO3B SID will lead you. If you select Melom as you did, the FMC will guide you directly to MELOM from your current position. This means you will not be flying SID, but instead you would fly straight to Melom. Therefore, your departure is definitely not safe. To insert SID correctly, you need to push DEP/ARR softkey after selectin departure and destination airports. There you can choose the runways and select the correct rwy and then you will see all SIDs that are available. After that you can choose airways and waypoints.
Same thing with BUBIN. BUBIN is not your STAR. BUBI9C is you star. In addition, it definitely doesnt matter which direction you approach the airport regarding the runway you will land. Of course you might get the R08 if your coming from west, but more important aspect is weather for example. I also didnt understand why you are viewing approach charts of departure airport. You should check the SID charts to know first turn after T/O, altitude and speed restrictions, and such.

Enjoyed your presentation. Production values are very good. In my case I learned how to create and enter a flight plan using various services (FSFlightPlanning, SkyVector, Simbrief, and now LittleNavMap) and entering it into the Garmin X530 of the Cessna Skyhawk 172. I found the manual entry of the data to be very tedious, but of course real world pilots must know how to do it. Instead I learned how to export the flight plan to X-Plane and then import into the Garmin 530. I just now tried the same procedure with the Garmin 1000 and it worked. So maybe this method is more advanced, and rightfully not taught to a beginner, but perhaps it could be mentioned in passing as an option. So now I will watch your next part on the autopilot, which is another skill I recently learned in the Cessna. Keep up the good work.

I tried following this step for step to fly from KLAX to KDFW and I can input the origin and destination but after that it won't let me plug anything in. It says that it can't find it. Ive tried mulitiple different origins and destinations and it just won't work for me. please help
