Also, don’t be discouraged if your friend group changes. Everyone eventually finds theirs groups and especially if you’re in a big friend group, know that all of you guys are not always gonna find time to hangout with each other.

from a senior graduating this fall and has lived on campus the entire time (outside of being home bc the pandemic) 1. for students who either have to dorm or want to, do not expect to be besties with your roommate! if you end up being best friends PERFECT, but it is completely fine to not be. if you have problems with your roommate, TELL YOUR RA! their responsibility is literally to help you. also proceed with caution when you want to be roommates with someone you already are best friends/friends with dorming or living off campus. being their friend is not the same as being a roommate and sharing a space. 2. utilize campus common spaces and free resources 3. friendships/friend groups fall apart sometimes, and that is okay. everyone is growing and becoming them. 4. communicate with your professors and participate in class. you'd be surprised by how helpful it is do so. I've had many of my professors kindly allow me to turn in assignments late due to personal circumstances even though they listed in their syllabus that will not accept late work or provide extensions regardless of what the reason is

A tip I have for commuter students is to find an on-campus job that you can go to in between classes. I wasn’t a commuter, but I worked with one and she said it helped her make friends and feel more a part of the community.

I'm a junior, but knowing that I literally graduate/go to college in over a year really slapped some sense into me but also terrified me. I also technically grew up with you (i watched you when i was in middle school), so this brought me so much comfort

Thank you so much for this. I definitely learned somethings I did not know about college. I took a gap year after high school and now I'm starting to get out there and consider more possibilities for myself. I really do appreciate any advice /info I can get on this topic. Just like you said I also always loved learning on my own terms rather than just by the book . I'm just excited for this next chapter of my life, finding new things about myself and stretching my own horizon ❤❤❤

as someone who went to community college in my hometown on the west coast then transferring but apply/going to a&t was a surprise and last minute. it definitely was hard first semester but it did get better, i finally found my people then going out helps. bc Greensboro made me very sad and depressed that first semester. ofc i changed my major from humanities & arts to a science knowing i’m pushing my graduation back a lil smh.
