Call and Commissioning

Bible Basis: Matthew 28:16-20; Acts 1:6-8

Bible Truth: The risen Lord commissioned the disciples, giving them authority and responsibility to continue and extend His mission and ministry throughout the world.

Memory Verse: “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” Matthew 28:19-20

Lesson AIM: That we will COMPARE Jesus’ commission to the apostles on the mountain in Galilee (Matthew 28) with His commission on Mount Olivet (Acts 1); TAKE courage that Jesus is present with His disciples as they go into the world to make disciples; and ACCEPT the commission to make disciples of all peoples.

Great job sis as always. Praying for you and this family in your time of loss. Strength and comfort to your hearts. Today we lay to rest my granddaddy, five months after granny. All is well and he allowed them both 80 and 81 years to be in their right minds. Cancer took its toll but the walked, fed, clothed, drove and lived on their own until God called them home. Things happened fairly quick but when I tell you....the word of God is true... Weeping may endure for a night but JOY will surely come in the morning 👏🏽🙏🏽😁💃🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽. As always, I enjoyed your presentation of the Word. One of the things that I will bring out in the lesson tomorrow is the comparison of the commission in Matthew with the commission in Acts. You brought out that Matthew they are being sent and in Acts they are being asked to wait until they are empowered with the Holy Ghost. Another comparison is that they are saying the same thing. But, to better understand the text I will have the students to diagram Matthew 28:19. It would bring out about prepositions and objects of the preposition. It will demonstrate how they need to know the name which is Jesus. Another way to teach the importance of knowing the name is use the check example. Write three different checks and give it to three different people. Make one out to The name of the Father, another the name of the son, and the last to the name of the Holy Ghost. Ask them why they couldn't cash the check. Then use the scriptures to show how the name of each is Jesus.
