Why is it that #bollywood is struggling to produce stars while other industries still have talent with box office pull like #telugu and #malayalam cinema. Why is it that after the batch of #srk #aamirkhan #salmankhan #hrithikroshan and #ranbirkappor , we have not had the consistency and box office pull of anyone? While #rajkummarrao #vickykaushal #ranveersingh are still navigating their way with #aliabhatt and #deepikapadukone : Why are the likes of #tigershroff #sidharthmalhotra #janhvikapoor #saraalikhan struggling? I hope you like the video talking about Why We Do Not Have Bollywood Stars Anymore?

Correction: Ayushmann Khurana has opted out of Border 2 now and Varun Dhawan has joined the cast. So it's just the Maddock Horror Comedy next for him!

The question is "is it really necessary to have stars anymore?" The obsession with any one particular actor had to end someday. I am happy the Indian audience is now looking and appreciating actors as "artists" instead of godlike figures.

Over exposure, internet, zero mystique or mystery, and too much awareness has killed 'stardom'.
Amitabh and Shahrukh had that aura.. Al Pacino and Tom Cruise had it... today's actors will never have it and there's nothing anyone can do about it...

This might be an unpopular opinion, but before the pandemic Ranveer Singh & Ayushmann Khurrana were on the path to becoming stars. Post pandemic audience taste changed and people preferred watching Ayushmann's social comedies on OTT. Ranveer's 83 could have been successful had it released before pandemic, and if he hadn't made poor choices like Jayeshbhai & Circus, he would have been able to continue his streak of successful films.

Except Sir Himesh De Niro.. there is no other superstar remaining in Bollywood.

That star aura is lost due to social media... As it is making everyone available in one click... That excitement to see someone is now gone...

The escapism we love in mass cinema was brought because stars then maintained their off-screen persona similar to the character they continuously play onscreen. One of the greatest example is "Salman Khan". I believe no man will ever see the stardom Salman and SRK have seen. Also, the social media presence reveals a lot about stars nowadays. No mystery, no stardom.

It's not that actors have lost their "aura, " but more so that people see them just as actors; no more, no less. Also, with all their lives visible on social media platforms, there's not much mystery left.

Audience didn't go to theatre for Shraddha, they went for the connect they had with Stree and the extremely tallented ensemble cast.

People have realised that not the actor but the story needs to be the star

Content is the king now. Directors and writers are the new stars. Success of Stree franchise (and many other maddock movies) was also because of the concept, writing and good execution. Hindi audience is evolving because of exposure to good content. Noone is going to watch a movie of a certain star if they are not impressed by the content. Public can even recognise good/bad acting now, which was not the case before. The whole debate around Stree 2 success also kind of proves that there are no obvious 'stars' anymore. Either Raj and Shraddha's next movie can flop but the next installment of Stree would open to humongous numbers.

Being overly available to media is also causing this. Shraddha Kapoor has some mystery to her because she is not making herself overly visible. Whereas Akshay Kumar is practically seen every other month, slowly losing his mystery and allure.

the reason why following actors became stars
AB: voice and good scripts
SRK: charm and made bollywood famous by romance
Sallu: Aura and swag
Akki: Comedy and action
Aamir and Ajay: acting range
HR: Dance and looks
Ranbir: Versatility and screen presence

Why do we need superstars? Maybe everyone realized that these people are just regular humans, why shower them with so much fame & money for hardly any achievements?!

I miss Sushant Singh Rajput. He was trying all different kinds of roles and had the potential to go a long way. Sadly, we will never know 😢

Kartik is in the middle of failed actors and successful actors. He is a hardworking person for sure. His next venture Bhool bhulaiyaa 3 can make his career go either way.

The PR game has overshadowed the natural aura of public figures to such an extent that everyone now seems focused on projecting an image of either relatability or humility. The intrigue and mystery that once surrounded actors have been completely erased by this constant need to appear accessible. These are the reasons I feel why today's actors lack that magnetic aura that once defined their predecessors.

The answer is simple, social media has made actors too accessible. There's no mystery. We know everything about everyone. I should also add, the industry really needs to make an effort to launch new talent. Its exhausting seeing the same people in every movie
