There are pro players who think Kenny Wayne is a modern copy of Steve Ray Vaughan, and these views are based on the fact that when Kenny is improvising or playing solos he often sounds like Steve, the similarities between the two of them are considerable.

However, good musical influences are always welcome and necessary to improve our playing and the most important thing when we are playing the guitar is not to sound 100% original but to have musical value, and Kenny's playing is rich in that quality. Actually, Kenny Wayne is not only a blues player, he also incorporates funk and rock elements into his playing delivering an inspiring and exciting modern blues rock.

Check out Born With A Broken Heart and realize that it is not a question about shredding but the quality of notes, the correct notes in the right places that turns into a killer melodic solo only a virtuoso guitarist who plays solos with incredible fury like Kenny Wayne could write. So do not hesitate guys, go to the good music to hear inspiring songs and solos.

KWS "made me" to liste to SRV more than I would in younger days....for a longer period, beside some grunge bands, I didnt listen notning but KWS...and of course Hendrix and SRV...

that's because SRV was his idol, there are pictures out there with SRV and Kenny as a young boy. So that's probably why there is a simalarity in their style

You must play the tune without the sound the original, to know if it's like kws playing.

KWS uses other chords than you do.
You are pretty close but it doesn't sound 100% right.
Use these instead (from high to low E); 8, 8, 6, 7, x, x and 10, 7, x, 10, x, x
How the hand is shaped over the neck and how much the strings are muted
plays a big role also.
Before the two chords he plays down the neck on fret 2 and 3.
Give it a try and see what you think? ;)
Rock on!
