Coronavirus: Canada to receive 249,000 vaccine doses in December

Canada is on the cusp of getting the first doses of a COVID-19 vaccine and it’s happening earlier than originally expected. The federal government now says the first doses of the Pfizer/ BioNTech vaccine could arrive as early as next week. Health Canada hasn’t approved it yet, and it’s still reviewing data from several vaccine candidates, but it could approve the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine later this week. Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau said Monday a deal has been made to get 249,000 doses of it delivered shortly after that. Contracts have been signed to get more doses in the months ahead, not just by Pfizer but from other manufacturers as well. But tonight, Canada is closer than ever to getting this mass immunization program underway. Mercedes Stephenson has more.

Administering the vaccine when it is approved and deciding who gets it first will be up to the provinces. It’s clear the priority will be front-line health care workers and the most vulnerable. Quebec, which recorded 1,500 new cases today for the third straight day and has more than 800 COVID-19 patients in the hospital, is one of the hardest hit regions and it unveiled its vaccination plan, Mike Armstrong explains.

I still believe that we are essentially at the end of the line and that most Canadians will have to wait to fall 2022 to be vaccinated. Canada keeps bragging that we secured so many vaccines, well its easy to do so when you're at the end of the line and the rest of the developed world has already vaccinated their citizens. By summer 2021 I think that most of the world will return to normal: travel restrictions are lifted, large group gatherings are allowed, lockdowns are gone and COVID-19 deaths will be really low. However I believe that for Canada 2021 is going to look a lot like 2020: we will have lockdowns, travel restrictions, bans on large group gatherings and there will still be a lot of COVID-19 deaths in Canada. In Canada we won't see the light at the end of the tunnel until 2022.

I just hope this really works, I really want this virus to end before christmas starting if not, perhaps after New Years, hopefully 2021 will be a new and better year for our world today

Also I really hope I’ll get back to work someday, at the beginning of 2020, I just starting working at a movie theatre and only did it for 3 weeks because of this pandemic, I do miss going there and I hope I will start soon

I miss living a normal life, doing stuff like going to church, seeing all my family and friends and also missing going to Disneyland

I will take the vaccine as soon as it is availabe. I isolate and use a mask if I have to get food etc. I Care about fellow Canadians and Albertans and I feel appreciative for our amazing hospital staff and their hard work. I do not want to be a covid statistic. Simple. I am that person.
