Abrasive teeth cleaning method vs AIRFLOW method

OK, this is kinda silly because after you disclose you're supposed to polish (rubber cup or air flow) THEN you scale. I understand that the air flow removes soft calculus but you still have to scale especially subgingival to remove hard calculus. This video makes it look like all you have to do is use the air flow and you're done with the entire procedure.... very misleading.

I have been using the Airflow for two months now. LOVE IT and so do the patients. They are not being deceived. We disclose, show the patient what was missed if they (hopefully) show up with just cleaned mouth. Airflow, piezo, floss, scale Generally is less hand instrumentation patients love the warm water temp, there is a tip to airflow 5+ mm and an implant tip. I graduated RDH school in 1988, I was\am more than happy to use this machine. Great for patients as the Erythritol kills bacteria up to 4mm and not a problem for dietetics. Just had this done. No complaints about the sensation although maybe I'll get them to turn the temperature up a bit next time if that's possible. Really great video to see up close what it's doing!

I get the point of this video. Remove the soft biofilm which we all know takes a long time with traditional instrumentation then go back and target the deposits. Additionally the therapeutic benefits of using airflow therapy are so beneficial, why would you transform your mentality. We get so set in our ways and sometimes just have to be open minded.

How did you polish the linguals? Flossing technique is... not recommended. If instead of scaling the person would have polished... the times would be pretty close if not reversed. Again, how would you polish the linguals?

Not precise at all. This super expensive prophy system may replace prophy with low speed handpiece, not scaling.
