What Separates Those That Are Truly Serious About Electric Cars From The Also-Rans?

After 15 exhibitions globally, the Fully Charged Show team has now inspired 100,000 electric test drives, and converted countless thousands to electric vehicles in the process. The team hit this milestone at the recent Everything Electric NORTH expo and hailed the huge impact that test drives have when it comes to convincing consumers to drive electric. This episode demonstrates what is fuelling the most successful battery electric vehicle manufacturers: thousands of test drives to an audience of repeat and imminent EV buyers at the utterly unique Everything Electric exhibitions.

CEO of the Fully Charged Show, Dan Caesar, had this to say: "When we started running test drives at the Fully Charged LIVE exhibitions in 2018, we only had the slightest inkling of how important test drives would become. We now run thousands of multi-brand test drives at each of our Everything Electric exhibitions around the world, and no matter how many test drives we deliver, we cannot match demand from our audience. Key to this success is a global audience of millions of repeat (~55%) and imminent (~45%) BEV buyers, that we have grown over 14 years on YouTube and 7 years of physical events. Tesla & BYD have benefited most from these test drives, but more and more other OEMs are waking up to the critical importance of this offering. With 100,000 test drives to date, we hope to hit the 200,000 mark by the end of 2025, and to run 10 exhibitions every year by 2030. "

You can’t understand what it’s like to drive an electric car till you drive one

Loved the Everything Electric North show and great to hear that the test drives were fully utilised.

I love that the cameraman can't keep Jack and Fay in frame because she's normal sized and he's simply not. :D

We went to this on the Saturday and had a brilliant time. Had a test drive of the Ioniq 6 and Volvo EX30. I loved the Smart #3 but that was only on display. I’m in the background of this vid too: I’m sat in the passenger seat of the Model Y 😂

Really hoping the MG Cyberster will be available to test drive at Everything Electric South.
Also, I'm thinking of an EV pick-up too, so hoping the Isuzu D-Max EV will be available for test drives at Everything Electric events in 2025.

Originally I was hoping to convert a L-R Defender to electric, but the electric conversions are too expensive. Why would I spend £50k plus VAT on a conversion, when I could buy a new Tesla for c.£50k? Maybe this overpricing problem is something that FC could investigate?

I really enjoyed the EE North show, but for me, the test drives were actually the most disappointing part. There weren't really any EVs on offer that would make my shortlist, as I need a seven-seater; you can pretty much count on the fingers of one hand how many fully electric seven-seaters are available in the UK at the moment and only one was represented at the show (only to view, no test-drive).

The only other available EV which I was hoping to road-test was the Silence S04, as I wanted to see how a micro car would handle the crumbling, diabolically maintained roads of Harrogate, but by Sunday they had decided not to let them out on the public roads and were only offering drives around the grounds of the venue. The reason given was that they were "getting held up in traffic", though this didn't seem to be a problem for any of the other manufacturers cars. Other than that, great show, with very interesting talks.
