Suikoden 2 is an absolute masterpiece, perfect in almost everyway. It is my favorite RPG between all systems, one of my fav series, and definitely one of the best RPGs of all time. One of my saddest days was when my physical copy went missing, and it has never turned up. I had bought it for 20$ when blockbuster went out of business and Quake or Quake2 was bundled with it. All my friends thought it was a waste of money cuz they never heard of it, until they seen me playing.

When I played Mother 3 I was blown away by how much it felt like playing a modern indie rpg rather than a 20 year old game. The pacing, story, gameplay, and humor hold up perfectly and the 4-party system with an attacker, mage, buffer, and item-user is super engaging

I would go for Breath of Fire 4. Less grinding than 1 to 3 and the visuals hold up really well.

For Final Fantasy I think X also holds up well but maybe not old enough compared to other games on this list.

Valkyrie Profile made such an impact on me as a teenager. The story, music, characters, and battle system are amazing 👏

Valkyrie Profile Lenneth was good! The story and characters were great! I can say that it was one of the very few games that made me cry (the only other games that made me cry so far were Star Ocean 2, Symphonia, and Silent Hill Shattered Memories). It takes a lot before I really get emotionally invested in a game's story and characters. Lenneth's so cool and and strong and very likeable!

I really love the graphics, gameplay and story of Shining the Holy Ark. I really want to see that game return with just touch-ups.

Xenogears, wild arms 2, breath of fire 2 and bahamut lagoon would be a great addition to these masterpieces

Lunar the Silver Star Harmony for the PSP is probably the best looking 2d rpg ever. It looks gorgeous

Dark Cloud and Dark cloud 2 both in 2000 and 2002 are 2 of my top 10 games with Dark cloud 2 being #1 on my list. If y’all have a PS4/5 you need to download these 2 and play them

One thing to add about Lufia II. It has, from what I can remember, the first randomized deep dungeon in a strictly RPG game rather than a hack and slash like the original Diablo.

Just finished Super Mario RPG yesterday on my SNES. Plays and looks excellent still!

Suikoden 2 is still one of my favorite RPGS to this day. Very happy to see it on the list!

Symphonia for me is always my answer. The art style is timeless, the gameplay is still solid to this day, and the story is one of the best.

I’d pay an insane amount of money for a Shadow Hearts remastered collection

Great list.

Another game I don't ever hear anyone talk about, Act Raiser. Man I loved that game.

2:40 - Except on the overworld. Lufia II does indeed have random battles on the overworld.
